Typical Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Symptoms
IBS symptoms can occur daily or less frequently and include:
* Bloating (increased gas and water) in the belly
* Abdominal pain and cramping
* Constipation with hard lumpy stool (Type 1-2 Bristol)
* Diarrhoea
* Straining to empty the bowel

Bloating and Pelvic Floor Problems
Bloating with gas and fluid can worsen pelvic floor problems including:
* Prolapse bulging and heaviness
* Bladder leakage, frequency and urgency
* Bowel incontinence (gas and stool)
* Pelvic pain and pelvic floor muscle spasm
* Abdominal pain during hysterectomy and/or prolapse surgery recovery

Bloating with IBS occurs when sugars in some foods are not well absorbed in the bowel. Gut bugs live off the food and drink you consume. When sugars aren't well digested they draw fluid into the bowel and ferment increasing gas, bloating and discomfort.

Bloating Effect on the Pelvic Floor:
* Increased load (weight) on your pelvic floor
* Pelvic floor stretch
* Decreased pelvic floor ability to withstand loading

IBS Bloating Emergency Relief Strategies
* Warm pack
* Relaxation
* Medication- buscopan or mintec
* Herbal remedies - Iberogast or peppermint oil tablets enterically
* Gentle exercises
* Positions
* Kegels
* Low FODMAP diet

IBS Constipation and Diarrhoea

Main problems caused by constipation and diarrhoea with IBS:
* Straining to empty
* Worsening pelvic organ prolapse, rectal prolapse and hemorrhoids
* Increased pelvic pain
*Increased load on pelvic organs

When you're constipated the bowel is filled with undigested food and wastes. This weight increases downwards pressure down on your bladder, bowel and uterus.

IBSC Constipation Emergency Management
* Avoid Straining
* Gentle exercise e.g. walking
* Heat packs
* Abdominal massage
* Avoid high fibre (short term)
* Reduce fatty foods
* Laxatives speak with your doctor - polyethylene glycol e.g. miralax, movicol, osmolax
* Suppository - severe constipation
* Kegel exercises especially after bowel movement

Diarrhea Emergency Management
* Avoid straining
* Eat foods that firm the stool e.g. white rice, white potato and hard cheese
* Medication e.g. immodium to slow gastric motility (speak with your doctor)
* Kegel exercises

I find that walking is the biggest help for bloating. I started walking laps around my yard and I enjoyed it so much that sometimes I do it even when I'm not bloated

I know I'm late to the video. But what finally ended this nightmare for me was working on my pelvic tilt issues. Im talking all day long making sure I'm in the proper position. Also proper breathing throughout the day. Helps with digestion and constipation.

Oh my goodness. This info is very helpful. I deal with back issues and premenopausal symptoms. Sometimes can't do bm for over 3 days. It causes a lot of pain on my lower back and pelvis. Been doing the Ben wah balls pelvic floor excersizes. I'm looking forward to having more bm and less bloating pain. Thank you, Michelle. Bless you.

Your videos are amazing!! I've been suffering from IBS for half of my life, I will start to put into practice all your recommendations since I am having more episodes of diarrhea lately (pain and bloating the next day to the point that I can't close my trousers) and then constipation that can last 7days. I'm fully sure that stress is one of my biggest triggers and then diet.

Wow….she just explained EVERYTHING I was going through for the past 10 years! I was told I had IBS in 2009 but I didn’t believe them. I was young and very ignorant of the subject matter. It wasn’t until I came back to the states from living in Europe for 3 years that I started looking at it again, because I had many issues with digestion because of the difference in food quality and processing from the different countries.

My doctor did confirm that I had IBS, but NEVER gave me detailed information about it.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!🥹

I had my gall bladder removed and I learned to remove nearly all fats and lactose products from my food intake as well as limiting sugar intake and spakling water.. So, I had no constipation, it was a struggle to control diahrea and the deletion of the above food products have really helped me.I found your video extremely helpful as some of the symptoms are so similar and I have learned to always carry Immodium and a spare panty in my napsack. Thank-you, I am now suscribed to your next informative video. Mich in Seattle, WA USA

Hi, for years i had this problem, I tried Iborogast but didn't help at all. The bloating got so bad that i looked pregnant, Doctors couldn't figure it out. While in France I got so sick I ended up in a clinic after calling the ambulance. I was given METEOSPASMYL and Spasfon and i was almost perfect after around 30 mins. I stopped eating sugar and it made a huge difference

I don't see that you have mentioned drinking water. I have found that this helps alot especially when eating high fiber foods.
