I may have dovetailed it and run the dovetail up at an angle from the edge, coming up through the surface so the external corner is the small side of the dovetail, but you do this for a living not me! 🤷‍♂️👍👍

Won't leaving those inside corners square make it more likely to crack at the corners, eventhough it's a laminated piece?

I disagree about the grain direction, the grain was swirling around the knot. The grain and the color was a pretty good match, but these repairs are difficult to match unless you have the next board in the series of cuts (and it ALSO has a knot in it). With a darker finish/stain it MIGHT be fairly invisible. Regardless, not my table. I might have made the repair more obvious on purpose with a different shape or even contrasting wood - but to each their own.

You can keep the wood as it was & just fill up the hole.

Nature does not have straight lines>> a plug with straight edges will always stand out. Better selection of the plug and a more irregular shape of the plug and the result will look much better.

False. The internet suggests that you use a metric ton of resin with as much dye and glitter as you can. And if that doesn’t work ramen noodles and super glue is an acceptable alternative.
