I just started my first supervisory roll this month, my biggest weakness is public speaking, however 1 on 1 is where I thrive, in the first couple weeks I had a meek and shaky delivery, Ive been doing a ton of research about how to public speak effectively, your point about preparation has made all the difference for me, as well as standing up straight and projecting my voice.

If it looks like im clueless or startled the team will pick up on that. So, Ive streamlined my announcements and kept things short and sweet.

Just remembering that Im the most powerful voice in the room and my confidence will impact the entire vibe of the meeting, it means that I can even fake it (short term) and the team will respond to that confidence, gaining the trust of my team has been effective as well, its not hard to talk to people you know, so I have made sure to converse with all my employees and form base level bonds in just the short amount of time ive been there.

Your channel has helped me so much already.

So, I was recently hired as an assistant manager for a retail store with a very bad reputation for employee treatment and because of that, high turnover. My store manager already quit and now I'm acting store manager... all within the first month of my employment. I was wondering if you have any advice on how to retain employees (even though the corporation is notorious for high turnover?) Also, just wondering, do you have a background in retail management? I have seen quite a few of your videos, but they are more "generalized" in a way. Thanks for reading.
