A lot of people come to India to see the Taj Mahal, when actually it is this architectural marvel the Kailasa temple they should come to see. It is a sight to behold.

Thank god it was too large to end up in the British museum in a disseminated state.

It's not Hindu mythology, it's Hindu history. If you use the word mythology for Hindus, use the same for Christian mythology.

I'm an Indian, visited the Ellora caves along with nearby Ajanta and Aurangabad caves. The first carving started on the hills adjacent to Aurangabad, but abandoned due to faultlines. The Ellora and Ajanta caves contain majestic structures built from monolithic huge stones. Apart from the majestic and marvelous stones carvings there were some paintings on the walls but except for the one in the Ajanta caves rest were lost. Only some traces are visible on the inside roof of the Kailash caves of Ellora. Yes these were done when the Europeans lived in some caves or on the trees.

I visited Kailasa Temple as well as Ellora caves last September...As a proud Hindu from south india, who saw a lot of temple architectures, i also stunned looking at this..Cave 16/ Kailasa temple itself is so huge...Most of the caves are huge..How my ancestors built this by carving the mountains downwards was an answerless question!!!!

It's pretty obvious to me that there is technologies in the past that don't exist today. This is absolutely awe-inspiring

It is amazing that the Kailash temple is not among the 7 wonders of the world.

I had the blessing to visit the Ajanta and Ellora Caves in 2019. It was a mind blowing experience. When I entered the Kailasa Temple complex my mind went into stillness, and I felt deep inner silence. The energy of the Shiv Lingam is very powerful. Also, the Jain caves are very mystical. It has many enigmatic symbols. Lots of beautiful frescos are still quite visible. Imagine how magical and beautiful the whole caves complex was with beautiful colors, paintings, artwork. It's just magical.

This rock is basalt. The rock hardness of basalt is 6 as per the Mohs scale which is the same as granite. Iron and steel are around 4.5. So you cannot cut such a massive structure with iron or steel tools. Today we cut basalt and granite with diamond head cutters. And this temple is older than 1000 years. Obviously since its a single block you need a proper blueprint. And the 200, 000 tonnes of basalt debris removed has vanished. No trace.

Fun fact-
Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb attempted to demolish the Kailash Temple in the late 17th century (as they used to do to remove signs of native culture & heritage). Aurangzeb deployed soldiers to destroy the temple. However, the task proved to be extremely difficult due to the temple's solid rock construction. After several years of trying and failing to inflict significant damage, Aurangzeb reportedly abandoned the effort.

As much as this documentary tries to remain unbiased, it still doesn't want to acknowledge that Indian civilization at the time was much more advanced than other parallel Civilizations. Stating that there could have been some alien technology behind these carvings, not only belittles the work produced by generations of artists and architects from that era, but also tries to undermine the true significance of the structure.

If a similar structure were to have been discovered in the west, everyone would have marvelled at the advanced nature of the civilization and praised its producers. There is nothing wrong in accepting that with all the advanced technologies we have today, we still cannot imagine building such significant structures. Please, let's give due credit to the people who conceptualized and made this beautiful structure a reality, for generations to enjoy!!

This place is beyond comprehension as of how this was constructed.

I visited over forty years ago as a young man. I have never forgotten the awe and spent two full days exploring the sites…alone. There were two other visitors on those days. The place was deserted . I have not been back on my numerous trips to India, but will before I die to marvel once again.

Anyone who creates the chance to visit will never forget it. It really makes one ponder on the ingenuity, engineering, and design.
