No I’m not hurt that they didn’t like the grilled cheese sandwiches

Props to Newton from eating a second bite to be polite, such a little gentleman❤

kids appreciate simplicity but they also appreciate variety. they like to have the freedom to choose between a few options in a single meal (very simple example, a chicken breast with the choice of peas or carrots, and rice or potatoes. it's pretty simple to make both)

So true. I sprinkled some black Pepper on My 3 yr olds Eggs the other day. He then asked me why I put DIRT on his eggs and refused to eat them🤣🤣🤣

Children love simplicity AND consistency, if they like a food they expect it to be the same everytime they eat it.

I've learned that everyone else likes my cooking more than I do 😂

I learned, don’t always ask them what they want to eat, because they don’t know. 😂

my parents were highkey foodies and always had me try things and the agreement was if i didnt like it i could spit it out and eat something else. it really was the best way to introduce me to all kinds of new foods and build my own pallet

Kids don’t want complex flavors. They want chicken nuggets, or something akin to it.

frozen foods (preferably nuggets) are the purest form of high tier culinary skills to a toddler, they see it and treat it as food of the gods

learned how blessed I am to have a toddler that eats anything 🙏🏽

Sausage in scrambled eggs is one of my favorite midnight snacks! You definitely elevated it with the burrito 🙌

a kid's taste buds are more sensitive than an adult so simpler dishes are better for them❤️ atleast, thats what I learn from seeing my younger cousins eat

I made my nieces fried rice with egg and shrimps, plus a lot of garlic... and they loved it. But when I made them the same thing weeks later, they saw how I prepared it, and said "Eeww, I don't like garlic."😅

Two things I’ve learned: “Never apologize for your own cooking” and food always taste better when someone else cooked it because you’re constantly smelling the flavors and tasting them as you make it.

Presentation is everything, and cleanliness is everything else.

My partner has very specific textures and foods he dislikes from being forced to eat them when he was younger. I don't think he knows it yet, but I've been keeping a mental cookbook of things he likes since I love to cook for others❤

I taught my nephews about “sneaky veggies”. They didn’t like most veggies when they were little so I taught them how to hide the flavor in something else. For example, if we were cooking a breakfast scramble, we’d add bell peppers and mushrooms. You couldn’t taste the flavor under the cheese we’d put on, just the texture, and even though they’d say they wished they didn’t have to eat veggies at all, I got them to eat them no complaints and no fights. Plus they’d be so proud of themselves for eating the veggies.

What I've learned from having a son is not to force him to eat what he does not like, but I make it different way. For example, he does not like sliced avocado but he likes it mashed or blended. Food textures can be weird but the flavor is good, and I want him to understand that early in life.

Exactly! Beauty is in the simplicity! Nothing beats a well made steak with some salt and butter.
