Miami Dolphins Tyreek Hill 'briefly detained' before Jaguars game

Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill was “briefly detained” by police after a traffic incident just hours before Miami’s season-opening game on Sunday, the team said on social media.
“This morning, WR Tyreek Hill was pulled over for a traffic incident about one block from the stadium and briefly detained by police,” the Dolphins X account said.
“He has since been released. Several teammates saw the incident and stopped to offer support. Tyreek and all other players involved have safely arrived to the stadium and will be available for today’s game.”

Handcuffing a person for a traffic violation which wasn't a traffic violation ... coming from the Netherlands one question ... is this normal in the USA?

56 year old white woman here from the western side of the US and here’s what I see in this video. Putting a man on the ground like that for a moving violation, even if he was maybe cursing, telling them he needed to get to the stadium, and who he is, etc., seems to be a power move by those officers. Possibly even some stereotyping/racism by the officers due to the color of his skin and the car he’s driving. I’m looking forward to hearing what comes of the investigation. As a 61 year old white guy, in my years of driving I've been pulled over multiple times. I have never once been asked to exit my vehicle and lay on the ground. I'm very interested in learning more about the detailsaround this because on it's face, it certainly is suspect.

In the early-mid 1980’s the Cal high way patrol pulled over a Caddy looking suspicious full of African Americans - police placing them all face down on the freeway. They turned out to be the Commodores and passers by were shouting “That’s Lionel Ritchie!”

the amount of money these cops cost taxpayers is crazy...all because they are taught minorities are dangerous. he is literally an American sports hero, and a role model to children and adults. face down on the ground over a traffic ticket, is absurd.

Here’s the difference between police in the US and other developed countries…the latter is trained in de-escalation to resolve a situation before using force, the former is trained to use force as a first means of resolving a situation.
