"Weissman doesn't have a trademark on the whole cabinet thing, does he?"

Mis en place should be more than just for your ingredients. The more organized your kitchen, the easier it is to cook.

I'm moving into a new apartment with more kitchen space, your timing couldn't be better :)

Yo! 100% that title is accurate. The cleaner and more organized my kitchen is, the more likely I am to not be lazy and make my food. Even on a diet where my food is planned out I can be lazy.

Tahini should be refrigerated after opening! Also, I highly recommend getting a labelmaker to label your OXO containers.

I just want someone to look at me the way Ethan Chlebowski looks at his well organized pantry. ❤

Ethan, could you do a kitchen staples video? Go through your crucial products to have in the cupboards? Thanks

Entropy is real. The proof is the fact you have to reorganize. It does take time and effort to keep it clean and tidy, and, either it's done every single time, or you deal with the mess until it drives you nuts and you do it all at once. It's spring, with Passover only just past now, so the whole house looks good, but, before Autumn, I will be scrubbing cupboards and sanitizing bins again. I love the idea of storing similar items together. I use the method of putting items to create certain dishes, like bean soup, and bread, together.

I think a lot more people have to read Marie Kondos books, because the process is barely ever represented correctly.
The sparking joy part in particular only works, when you did the first part right: defining precisely, what you want your entire life to look like. What is the dream, the vision, the goal?
Now, you go through all the things you have and only when it aids you in reaching your goals it will truly spark joy. If it doesn't, it has to go, no matter what it is, because it hinders you in achieving your dream life. The books really are worth reading, even if you watched videos on her ideas, because they rarely represent the whole concept.

When we redid our kitchen, I had a lower cabinet beside my stove that I put in two pull out shelves, in the upper portion of it, where I put all of my spices/herbs and things like bss as king soda/powder. Then I put a pull out in the bottom where I keep my flour, sugar, common oils, etc. I call it my “working” pantry. With that so convenient to my stove, and eternally tidy, it has made it a pure joy to cook.

My ingredient drawers are usually clutter free, it's my 'empty tub" (lunch boxes, food containers, bottles for entire family) drawers that end up looking like a jumble sale!

Cool Vid.
I keep after my spice bottle shelf the same - remove, toss, replace, reorganize…
Removes gunge and clutter…
Fresh spices are the only spices.
