I've heard some scientists on YouTube say that the way the ankle operates compared to how other animals run the advantage we have is that we can kind of change gears between walking and running. Most mammals are always up on their toes which means their runs are faster but walking is less energy efficient!

This example of swapping out the prosthetic really lines up with that!
