Carolina Wren Call

preview_player
Показать описание
Carolina Wren Call in the Great Smoky Mountains that is not that common compared to their typical song. This may be a defensive call as it always made similar sounds before arriving at the feeding area tipping me off to its pending arrival. Even so, this single Wren visitor that loved summer suet moved fast and took awhile to finally film at length as it foraged energetically among the trees and brush. A great little bird that while heard is rarely seen around here.

This first "song" pattern is what we've been hearing non stop on our patio in Oklahoma City for the past three days. Caught a few pics of the Mr. & Mrs., one with an insect in its mouth. So, this confirms it! Thank you! Great photography.

We had one built a nest in our patio. Recently hatched around 3 to 4 little baby wrens. We were more than happy to have them as our guests. :)

I agree....this seems to be an alert call...I hear it when I am near their little one in the nest and also when they are about to feed.

I love the wren, but it can always be seen only very briefly. Here it is very shy. Thank you for your nice video!

That’s not their defensive call, which is easily identified due to its loud, harsh, screeching sound. They actually have several calls

We have a nest in a bush right in front of our window it was easy to watch mom or pop to feed the babies but now it's hard to catch them in the act. Lol.

Isnr that a Bewick's Wren? My bird book says the Carolina has a buff colored belly. This one is clearly pale below.

I had a nest of these in a bucket of clay cat litter used in case of an oil spill in my open carport up on a cabinet walked through my carport found the whole nest of chicks laying on the concrete some bird had tossed them out of their nest they were going to die it was pouring down rain I picked each chick up off the floor there were 3 took them in the house fixed there nest back and set the bucket back on the cabinet in no time in a month they grew up they would see me and land on the carport and set there and sing to me they would nearly land on me I was just glad they survived I loved how they would sing and clatter at me to this day there offspring are still hanging around my carport.

I played this for a wren couple in my back yard and they were going crazy flying back and forth trying to find the origin of the call. I wonder what this call means for wrens? Is it territorial?
