To me, the wrens say ‘chirpity, chirpity, chirpity.’ I LOVE it! ❤️❤️ My favorite birdsong. 🥰

I’ve been watching one Carolina couple flit around my yard for ~15 months. they love messing about in my enclosed patio, picking bugs off the screens, and terrorizing larger birds like blue jays who encroach. there is also a cardinal couple and it seems like they’re the only regulars the wrens let pass; sometimes they feed together like they were having a double date. i learned that wrens can grow accustomed to other neighbors as “dear enemies” once they establish borders, which i find adorable—they are so feisty and temperamental for such a tiny, cute species. of course, having the wrens and cardinals hang out together makes it even more difficult to tell the calls apart 😂

anyway thanks for this video, the footage is fantastic and the narration is very well-delivered and informative! hopefully i can recognize the difference between the dryness of the cardinals’ calls and the wrens’ burbly-ness.

Where I live, we grew up calling these little guys "sweet tater birds" to many of us it sounds like they are singing "sweet tater sweet tater." It was my mom's favorite bird. She had a couple nest on her porch and she would check on them every day.

Those have to be one of the loudest birds for their size!😂. Thanks Jo!

I have a local C. Wren pair, male settled here first last summer and found a mate last month in March. Survived a Southern Canada winter this year. He Loves dehydrated meal worms fed from a jelly feeder daily. No other species here eats them (yet). Very tolerant of us working on the patio close to the feeder. I adore him. I plan on feeding him year round in hopes the cold doesn't take him during winter. May put up some winter nesting boxes too. Next winter may be more harsh.

I just moved to Virginia and have fallen in love with the Carolina Wrens. Their round little shapes remind me of sparrows in Ireland, and their calls are SOOOO proud. This was so valuable in helping me ascribe that big song to that little bird! Thanks!

Hi, I have one of these vociferous lil fella's building a nest in my bedroom window sill. Right next to an old air conditioning unit. It's about 6 feet from a seuit feeder I have put up! I'm starting to think it could be a "VERY LOUD SPRING!!!" Ha! I am very luck, I live in Atl Ga.& have sooo many visitors I can hardly keep up with them all!! Thanx for sharing! <3 ;)

Thanks. One noisy bird, esp if they nest near house! Had pair that liked open end of rain gutter at corner of deck. Very devoted to hatchlings. Cardinals don't usually nest in such proximity.

Thank you for a very informative narrative. A joy to listen to both birds side by side. We don't have either of these species in our area, but we are always interested in learning and memorizing bird songs. Thanks for the great video. 😊

This was a sweet little video, thank you! 😊 Have been doing a bit of research on these little guys since we first noticed one perched up in the corner of our porch 2 years ago. We at first took him for a baby owl because of the mottled coloring and puffy feathers (which we've since learned they sport while sleeping). We've affectionately named him 'Woodson'. Sometimes there will be 2 'Woodsons' snuggled together, and we've even had 3 in the corners once or twice. But most nights, it's one little lone guy tucked away for bed. We'll even avoid stepping outside at dusk so we don't disrupt him from settling in. We've learned his nesting habits and times - which grows earlier each night as the year closes out. Our bedtime routine for our dogs' potty break now includes flashlights & hushed voices so we disturb him as little as possible. Followed by a quiet "Good night, Woodson". And yes, as another commented; "Cheeseburger!, Cheeseburger!, Cheeseburger!" is definitely what I hear. 😂
