Hurricane Helene: A Tragedy of Biblical Proportions

Thank you for covering this. I live in Upstate SC and work in part of government infrastructure so it’s been bad. Nearly 100% power loss for us and plenty of destruction. But Western NC and other places like South GA are much, much worse off than us from what I understand. Please pray for us. Thank you again.

Thank you, Jon, for putting this out there. I'm originally from Western NC, and still have friends and family there. Some I have not heard from yet. Others are okay physically but are dealing with the aftermath at one level or another.

I live in South GA. By God’s grace, my family and I survived and we’re now picking up the pieces. I’ve been in the dark for almost a week and I am genuinely shocked of the destruction and my heart breaks for those affected.

We just went through this storm in Georgia. We got hit hard, way harder than this area has been hit in living history (from what I've heard) and we didn't even get the worst of it.
There are trees and power lines down literally everywhere. Thousands of people without power, many of those without water even in the city.
I have a friend whose power pole was broken, and a tree fell on her house. She is on SS income, disabled, with a recovering drug addict son who is in rehab right now. She was completely alone for 4 days without electricity or gas money. She has no way of affording the repairs.
I'm helping her as much as I can.
But the Lord is our strength. We should not, and should never have, put out trust in princes, in the son of man in whom is no help.
Biblical proportions is accurate.

Did you know government/industry has the ability to "augment" hurricanes and storms? Hurricane hit us here in upstate SC. It's the worst we've ever been hit--but nothing like Western NC. Something is very "off" about this. Why were people not evacuated? Why are they not getting help? How are hurricanes doing this much damage--not at the beach--but in the mountains?

I’m at a loss and the static hum is so loud online. Nothing is ever resolved, there is no reverence paid, it’s just trauma month after month

No empathy for what these folks are going through. I live fairly close to where this is happening and this is so far reaching. My friends all have missing family/friends they are trying to find or that passed away (I'm a transplant...been here 7 yrs). A man I just began seeing can't find his father or brothers in Ashe Co. To make it all about votes is disgusting! Sorry for the rant but this upsets me so much. Praying for everyone!
