Marty says goodbye to his parents - Back to the Future

I always felt this was a really poignant scene in the film that not many people talk about. Marty's most recent memories of his parents and their relationship wouldn't be happy ones from what we see at the beginning of the film, so it's a nice little scene where he gets to see what they were like as they fell in love as young kids.

In this scene, we see for the first time that George Mcfly has confidence in his voice and his demeanor. This was a change to how he was acting prior to kissing Loraine and was also the confidence that Marty would encounter when he returned to the future and George had Biff waxing his car.

They definitely knew something was supernatural about Marty in this scene. They probably didn't know he was a time traveller, but when Lorraine asks him "Marty, will we ever see you again?" she and George definitely know.

If you are wondering why the parents don’t realize marty (their son) looks the same with the guy they met 30 years ago. Keep in mind they only met him for about a week, 30 years ago, with no photographs of him.

30+ years and I just noticed George put his over coat on Loraine, also it's always been noticable but his personality change is awesome, his confidence has already improved dramatically.

I love this scene so much. Just shows how much he cares for his parents and how much more he wanted for them before he went back in time.

I like how they both chuckled when Marty mentioned if they will have kids, such an underrated moment.

"I gotta tell you... it's been....educational." Marty learned more about his parents in 1 week in 1955 than he knew about them in 18 years in 1985.

This reminds me of my dad cause he threw my grandfather's hat into the fire. Needless to say, my grandfather didn't go easy on him. Such a feel good movie.

Theory that’ll get everyone to shut the hell up: the reason why no body recognizes Marty as Calvin Klein (or why George doesn’t assume Marty is actually his kid) is because Doc (who is suppose to be Calvin’s Uncle) covered for him by saying he died during the lightning storm (like how “Clint Eastwood” does on the train in BTTF 3 and the ravin was named after him).
