Yep, when I started standing up for myself, becoming resistant and more vocal, I was getting to be too much to handle (ie control), he discarded me for new supply (who was probably in the background anyway). 25 year marriage over, just like that. It was hard, but after the fog cleared, I looked back and saw so many red flags that I ignored, I realized I deserved better.

And the silent treatment is painful and does hurt. It's cruel. Going no contact with him has been difficult for me but I know I have to do this. He can't keep punishing me and acting like I have no value at all. I'm not invisible. I am human. Messing with me all the time to get a rise out of me. It's so draining.

You don't realise how much this has opened my eyes. Everything you have said I am being subjected to by my so called girlfriend. I have recently started standing up for myself and it has been two weeks of arguments because I am no longer conforming.

Yup. When I started standing up for myself, he couldn't deal with it. He became more volatile and violent. I educated myself about gaslighting etc, he'd be like oh what have you been reading today etc. He blamed all the problems on me, I needed to have sex more, spend less, allow him to dry whatever he wanted ed etc. And at the end, he spewed such vitriol to me, saying I couldn't cope, that I was controlling (🤣) etc screaming in my face - I think it was his last attempt to scare me into submission. I actually nervously laughed and it stopped him in his tracks and he left.

I was discarded because I said “no”. He started dating after two weeks and is going to marry her. I tried calling him but never got a response from him. It’s been two years now… the silent treatment continues 😢😢. Everyday I watch videos on narcissism and educate myself, but it’s difficult to heal. Silent treatment is cruel and brutal 😢😢😢
