How Do Indian Scam Call Centers Work?

Indian Scam Call Centers are bilking millions of dollars from people globally every year. They operate by gaining a person’s trust over the phone or online, and convincing someone they need to send money to fix a problem. Or that the person has won some money, and they need to spend a little to get it. And while it might seem crazy to randomly give someone who called you out of the blue your bank info, the scammers have methods that are super convincing to a lot of people. In this video, we take a closer look at how these companies work. We dive into the types of scam calls they make, and how they each operate. We talk about how they have a variety of scams they can try, and how they manage to successfully steal so much money from people around the globe. The majority of the scams tend to rely on a mix of technology, picking the right victim, persuasion over the phone, instilling a sense of urgency, and more. We also talk about a couple groups who are fighting back against the scam call centers by exposing them online, and by pranking them. And why the police don’t seem to want to do anything about the scams. My father who's worked in a bank for 14 years caught him & stopped that person from scamming my sweet Aunt.

Scammers are all about trying to get personal information from you by asking you to "verify" something like your SSN, your bank number, your Medicare number, or your doctor's name. Turn the script around by asking the scammer to verify a piece of your personal information that they should have given who they say they are. For example: if they say they are from the IRS, ask them to tell you the last four numbers of the Social Security; if they claim they are sending you a new Medicare card, ask them for the last four numbers or letters of your Medicare Number; if they ask you to "verify" your doctor's name, ask them to give you the initials of your doctor.

From Kolkata here....the places where these scam call centres are situated is Sector 5 and New Town... honestly two emerging modern cities...but now I know what so much emerging is coming from...we get these calls all the time...we report to the police and nothing fucking happens...why ...cause they get a fair share of money....

When I'm not sure whether a call is a scam or not, I simply ask: "Can you prove to me that this is not a scam?" ONE TIME the caller gave me her first name, the name of the company she worked for, the city and state where her call center was located (which matched the area code on the caller ID), and the URL of the corporate website. Every other time, the caller gives me vague reassurances and tries to change the subject, or the caller gets mad at me, and in either case, I win.
