We go deep into the vast world of India’s scam call centers, meeting those behind the deception and the new breed of international scambaiters who are trying to bring these scammers down.

After seven years of running tech support scams, ‘Leo’ has leveled up. He is now an entrepreneur or a scam call center consultant who sets up scamming outfits for those with money to invest. From hiring to hardware, he has it down to a science, especially on how long it will take to generate returns for the investors.

At the other end of the spectrum, we follow an Indian scambaiter ‘Sven’ as he investigates a local company that’s running a scam call center. The majority of their victims are English-speaking foreigners overseas. Through reverse tracking, he has managed to get into the company’s systems, securing access to their confidential files and real-time CCTV footage of scams taking place.

Will ‘Sven’ be able to find enough evidence to submit to the police and conduct a crackdown?

Much of the blame is also on the Indian govt for not taking this seriously

I am an Indian living abroad and get these calls as well. I have lost my Indian accent so these scammers don't realize they are talking to another Indian. I play along for a few minutes acting like I am a gullible foreigner and out of nowhere loudly start cursing them and their parents in very filthy Hindi. They always hang up in panic. Hopefully I have traumatized atleast a few of these scammers into quitting their job.

This is a disgrace to India government for not trying hard to stop internet criminals.

These scammers are giving decent and hardworking Indians all over the world a bad name.

I am of Indian origin who is trying to establish a legit trade business in Australia. When I try calling in potential customers they think I am calling to scam them. These scammers have dented a serious blow to the community. Hope they rot.

I got a call from an Indian call centre last week- I was asked to confirm my name- and I replied: S for Sugar, C for cat, A for alpha, M for Mike. The “call centre” staff screamed in shock SCAM! And immediately cut the call 😂

Scary thing is that in the UK, big companies like Argos and Vodaphone and Three mobile and even Aldi etc have call centres in India as it is cheap. Every time I ring up customer service and hear that accent, I am worried that it might be a scam. It's scary

The way that lady convinced herself she was not a criminal just because she convinced someone to give her the money instead of stealing it like a pickpocket... the mental gymnastics people go through to rationalize what they do and convince themselves they are 'better' than others. I think it comes from a deep sense of guilt and discomfort she is trying hard to suppress.

I just love that there are actually skilled anti-scam operatives working on consumer's behalf - good job people!

I am an Indian and I was scammed by Indians who posed as the HR recruiting me. I have lost more than 500$ in the scam. These scammers mostly work in New Delhi. I did not know any other way to report it, so I left it to Karma to do the job.

The accent of Indian scammer trying to be American is hilarious 😂

Here in Australia, if we hear an Indian accent over the telephone, we straight up assume scam/scammer. It wouldn't surprise me if legitimate businesses in Australia try not to hire anyone of Indian heritage, just to get around that issue. So yeah, probably is damaging the Indian brand.

JIM BROWNING needs more recognition. That man has shut down a few call centers, saved victims, and is still fighting for all.

I salute all the youtubers who turn ther cameras on, tell them their locations, names & when they start panicking, I feel immense joy. To me, the elderly & children are our most vulnerable members of society & to rob them blind of their savings, only an animal could do that. Their karma will certainly be severe cuz what the scammers are doing is gut wrenching. We need more youtube channels that uncover these scammers!

It has gotten so bad in Australia. Australians see every Indian as a scammer in our community. It's the perception that so many elderly in our community have been scammed. It's shameful.

I live in Australia and get these scam calls often. The best way to stop these scams is to hang up the phone the moment you hear an Indian accent on the other end.

One of the finest documentaries made by the CNA. Hope at least one of our government law makers sees this documentary and start waking up our government,

The solution to this issue is for major tech companies to cancel their contracts with all call centers in India and move operations elsewhere. This would clearly indicate that individuals with Indian accents in these roles were the scammers.
