When my mom immigrated she practiced her English on telemarketers. They didn't call the house after that.

Once a telemarketer called me and I was in a foul mood, so I kept her on, asking questions, asking for clarification, and so forth for a half hour or so. Then I said, "Do you know what I'm doing? I'm keeping you busy so you don't pester anybody else." Her response, "I don't mind, I get paid by the hour."

I'm Asian and know this game well. Just last week an insurance guy came into our print shop trying to pedal employee insurance (which we already have) and I tried to sell him promotional items to help his sales game. We didn't buy any of his insurance, but I got him interested in custom pens. LOL.

My dad got a call and they said we will deport you if you don't pay your taxes today. He said " Give me 2 tickets with legroom and let's call it a deal. "

I love those guys who end up hacking into the scammer’s computers and start deleting all their files, describing them using their camera system or taking money from the scammer. They’re the best.

How my dad avoids it.
Caller: "Sir how would you like to upgrade your phone"
Dad: "I don't have a phone bye."

One time a scammer called me while I was cleaning my bath room, so I thought “why not talk to this guy while I clean the bathroom”. He was trying to scammed me to pay for applying for US lotto visa, but I told him I am poor so can he pay for me and I will pay him back when I’m in the US. Best phone call of my life I tell ya.

Some scammer called me on the phone once and I kept repeating "I can't hear you" over and over until they hung up. Funny part is that I genuinely couldn't understand them.

Reminds me of how when my grandma got a call saying "hello, are you interested in our windows and doors" she just said "i live in a cave" and proceeded to describe her fake cave life until they hung up

My uncle once got a call from a scammer who claimed they were going to help him upgrading his Microsoft programs. He immediately knew it was a scam, but he wanted to have some fun with it. He said “just hang on a minute”, then put the phone down and continued with whatever work he was doing. After five minutes he took up the phone and asked “are you still there?”, the scammer said yes, and again he told them to wait a little and put his phone down and waited another five minutes, and repeated the process until the line was dead. That way you can make sure that the scammer’s phone-bill gets high.

What I do is I start like this, “Hello… Hello, who is this? … Who is this?…” Always like that to unknown numbers, and when I realize its a telemarketer, I’ll just continue the act and pretend my speaker is broken or I can’t hear him because of poor connection, then hung up. Always works.. 😅

A week or two after my grandpa died, my aunt got a phone call asking for money, saying that he is her father. My aunt answered: I don't think you need money in heaven.

My mom does not speak English. Whenever there is scam calls, she picks up, listens until they done their first sentence, loudly say "NO", and hangs up. lol.

I personally, am a big fan of self depreciating jokes with truth mixed in, so when it's done not only right but with this level of humor and expertise, I just wantedyou to know its appreciated.
