He didn’t “become Sauron” he was always Sauron, he was just using a disguise

Sauron is not an elf like people are commenting. He is a Maiar, like Gandalf and Saruman. He can surely appear the way he wants to although it's true that in the book he likes to take the appearance of an elf.

" In the land of Mordor, in the fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Sauron forged in secret, a master ring, to control all others. And into this ring he poured all his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all life. One ring to rule them all."

Sauron is one of the greatest and most fascinating villains ever.

Sauron was originally called Mairon, he was a Maiar, like Gandalf and Saruman, that was created by Illuvatar before middle earth even existed.
He was an apprentice of the valar Aulë and then became the lieutenant for another valar, Melkor, later known as Morgoth, the original ‘bad guy’ and in my opinion the equivalent to Lucifer in the Bible.
Sauron could be interpreted as a fallen angel.
The elves were awakened in the far east of middle earth, so to consider Sauron an elf is like saying that the archangel Gabriel is Adam’s brother. lol
He appears as an elf because his only goal was to trick the elves into forging the rings of power.
His pseudonym Annatar means ‘lord of gifts’. It’s a disguise or farce if you will.

Sauron means in Quenya ‘the abhorred’, that name was given to him by the elves after his betrayal. It’s an insult.

If you want to understand Tolkien, all you have to do is look at the names. They do more than denoting a character.

I cringe at the misinformation and wrong depiction of so many things in this series.

Coming from someone who is more than willing to recognize all the show’s shortcomings, that transition from the three Rings to Sauron’s eye was PERFECT.

Sauron can talk into Mordor for the simple reason that, for him, he is simply coming home. He lived here long enough to establish it as such. It's just now in the way he wants it to be.
And frankly the fact that he's taken a form of a man instead of an elf makes sense...after all "Men above all else desire power."

Mount Doom wasn't an active volcano. It was just a mountain with a chasm of fire inside. It didn't erupt until like 2000 years after this moment in the story, when he attacked Gondor and took Minas Ithil (called Minas Morgul in the Third Age)

That feels like Voldemort going on search for a horcrux.

the guy portraying Elrond would genuinely be more fitting in the role of a dwarf

Tolkien never described Annatar (Sauron's beautiful form) as an elf. He just said Annatar looked "both beautiful and wise". Read the Silmarillion.

You can almost hear his big, menacing whisper in his head...'This is truly the most badass of all real estate in Arda...Barad Dûr goes over there, get them to clean up Udûn a bit.... and that cave with that chungus Australia spider, is where I'm putting my gift shop!'

Boromir: One does not simply walk into Mordor.

Halbrand: Allow me to be the very 1st to do so.
