To help you pass your job interview, I will cover the following three things during this tutorial:

#1. I will explain why the interviewer is asking you the behavioral interview question, tell me about a time you made a mistake. If you understand WHY the question is being asked, it enables you to give the perfect answer.

#2. I will then tell you how to structure your answer to this interview question to get the highest scores possible.

#3. Finally, number three, I will give you a brilliant example answer to the question, tell me about a time when you made a mistake, in a live interview that is guaranteed to impress the hiring manager!

Why is the interviewer asking you the question, tell me about a time you made a mistake?
They are asking you this interview question for two reasons.
Reason number one is because they want to assess whether you are honest about any mistakes you have made. If you say that you have never made a mistake in your life, then you are not being honest. We all make mistakes, but it is how you respond to the mistakes you make that is important.

Reason number two why they are asking you the question, tell me about a time when you made a mistake is because they want to hear that you TOOK OWNERSHIP of your mistake, you apologized for it if necessary, and you then took positive steps to learn from the experience!

Let me now tell you how to structure your answer to the interview question tell me about at time when you made a mistake, and I will then give you brilliant example answer in a live interview!

First, you start off your answer and you tell the interviewer the SITUATION you were faced with.

Next, you briefly outline the TASK that needed doing.

You then move on and give details about the ACTION you took to achieve the task.

Finally, tell the interviewer the RESULT of your actions.

Let me now give you a brilliant example answer in a live interview to the question, tell me about a time you made a mistake! 03:36

Thank you so much Richard. I watched some of your videos last week as I awaited my interview which was on Monday. After the interview two hours later, I received the news that I had performed very well and they offered me the job. I appreciate the help. God bless you.

Thank you so very much for your videos! I took a deep dive and researched the heck out of all I could to prepare for my interview. I have been a shift manager for a month now and have been told I could be up for promotion already. Your videos helped to build my confidence! BTW "Tell me about yourself?" was for sure the first question I was asked! Much love!

Hi Richard great video! I've learned so much from your videos, especially when I didn't understand why they were asking the questions they were asking. I always recommend your videos to others. I have an interview with the NHS for a Data Science Degree Apprenticeship in four weeks time. I've seen your DATA SCIENTIST video, but was wondering if you had any advice for a Data Science Apprenticeship Interview? Also, there's a numerical test prior to the interview, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Richard,

Thanks a lot for all your hardwork and videos this has really helped me in my interviews.

I recently got a job opportunity but they are asking for previous companies reference reporting manager only. I am just a bit afraid of providing my managers contact number since she is very negative kind of person and I have a very strong feeling that she will provide bad feedback only since I had once heard her threating one of my colleague.

Could you please me to know how to tackle this situation please

I'm going to use your answer because mine was a customer came in and bought a hot n ready pizza. well the pizza was old she yelled at me when she called over the phone. I apologized and tried telling her what I could do to fix the issue. She Continued to yell at me and asked for the manager. I was the manager at the time so she continued to yell asking "what kind of business are you guys running? your stealing our money!" she yelled.
I had to speak over her and told her "Ma'am please calm down because with all your yelling nothing will ever get solved.
she hung up
