I know this is an older video, but just wanted to comment and let you know you did a great job and really explained this topic very well!

Wait, so would that technically mean if I were to have dy/dx, I would isolate dy by just multiplying by dx to dy/dx which would also multiply the function by dx?

Im doing practice problems off kuta software and one problem says y = x^3 - 2 and apparently the answer is ∆y = −3x^2(∆x) − 3x(∆x)^2 − (∆x)^3. why? Also wasnt given any dx or dy or x values. Just the y = x^3 - 2 part.

Even though you approximate delta y you could be way off if you did other points.

How do I do this if not given a value for dx?

The question is simply: "Find the differential dy of the function y=2x^(3/8)"

I got dy/dx = (3)/(4x^5/8), or dy = 3/(4x^5/8) * dx, not sure if this is an acceptable answer..
