👉 Learn how to find the derivative of a function using the chain rule. The derivative of a function, y = f(x), is the measure of the rate of change of the function, y, with respect to the variable x. The process of finding the derivative of a function is called differentiation. There are various methods of finding the derivative of a function including, direct differentiation, product rule, quotient rule, chain rule (function of a function), etc.
When given a function of the form y = f(g(x)), then the derivative of the function is given by y' = f'(g(x))g'(x). This method of differentiation is called the chain rule. The chain rule is used to find the derivative of a function that is a function of another function.

*Im lost about factoring. How do you know what to factor out and where to put it* 😭😭😭

Beautifully explained however - at 3:38 should read 6x not 3x - need to multiply 3 by 2x. answer should by

The best thing about this channel is that I feel like the students have similar questions to what I do, it makes me feel less alone and more engaged.

Sometime I watch classes and the students seem to be mega intuitive geniuses but that’s a not realistic, we have questions and we sometime don’t see things instantly. I really appreciate this channel

Seems like a lot of people are ha ing a problem with factoring. Which isnt surprising. Factoring can be hard to master but once you do its really easy and useful.

I suggest everyone go to khan academy and look up factoring in the algebra 2 playlist.

You just need to find what the terms in the expression have in common.

Basic example.

x^2+4x
Both terms have an x

Factor it out like this.

x^2+4x=x(x+4)

It helps to know the axiom of a^2-b^2 as well. Knowing polynomial expansion can really help. Pascal's triangle is a nice tool you probably used only once and have now forgot it.

thank you so much for this, i am in calc in highschool and I saw a video that taught me how to use the chain rule but not for binomials which i really needed!

When you teach introductory calculus, do you derive the product and chain rule for your students or just present them as rules to memorize? Do you have a video showing these derivations?

Sir Why don't you take the logarithm of the equation and then differentiate ? This will give you result more quickly and corrctly .
