How I swim over a mile offshore solo for spearfishing

I've been getting loads of questions recently regarding my float setup for spearfishing. I've taken this setup up to 2.4km offshore without any problems. I'm not saying you need to go that far to find fish but it certainly opens up some areas to shore divers who don't have a boat. Hope you enjoy this one!

Dan, I thought I would take the time to let you know how big of an influence you have had on my life. About 4 years ago I started watching your videos and you have taught me and made me totally obsessed with spearfishing. You are one of the biggest inspirations in my life as your videos have taught me most of what I know about the sport. Great stuff as usual. After reading some of these comments I think it would be nice with a video discussing diving alone. I believe it can be done safely, and many of us choose to dive alone when time allows instead of being limited by not having a dive buddy available.

You should come down to Australia in particular my state of South Australia and do some spearo dives here. You could go over to the Eyre Peninsular, down Port Lincoln way and swim a few K's offshore there for some great spearfishing. It's alive over here, there's some large toothy critters but you'll be right mate, just keep your head on a swivel

I was on holiday in the EU and Decathalon have a few float options (Subea - Decathalon own brand) that are very well priced. Unfortunately not available in UK stores.
