From the Greek βαπτίζω (baptize): ‘To immerse, bathe, wash, drench’ (Oxford English Dictionary, 1961).

APOSTOLIC CANON 50: If any Bishop or Priest does not perform three immersions (baptisms) in making one baptism, but only a single immersion (baptism), that given into the death of the Lord, let him be deposed. For the Lord did not say, “Baptize into my death,” but, “Go ye and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”

See our new book: ‘On the Reception of the Heterodox into the Orthodox Church’ for a complete treatment on the topic (UncutMountainPress.com) ☦️

I’m Catholic and I was fully submerged in pool of water.

The important thing is to be baptized in the name of the Holy Trinity❤

As a Traditional Latin Rite Catholic, I love both of them.

Something is calling me out of my Christian church and its worship band to an Orthodox Church. But I’m unsure.

Sheds a tear to my eye. I love orthodoxy

Matter and form is what's required. Both are valid baptisms

I’m not Catholic, but the Didache states that baptism through the pouring of water is still a baptism.

Father Calistrat Chifan is an amazing monk with sermons that are rich, down-to-earth and as straight-forward as that baptism he performed.😂 Unfortunately only available in Romanian.

Stop Arguing with other Christians, now is the time to spread the word to others not argue amongst ourselves.

I love Orthodox baptism. I missed two today of infants. Love chanting "As Many As Have Been Baptized into Christ". It is a blessed and beautiful occasion, and then they are Chrismated and tonsured and then they commune! ☦︎ 🤗

Both are proper baptisms. Read the didache folks, the act of pouring is just as valid as full immersion.

Doesn’t the Didache allow for pouring.
It was explained to me that a lot of places the Apostles went were very desert-like.

Also in immersion it says it’s better to have flowing water. 🤔

The Pope's baptism is the Latin rite, I'm Eastern Catholic and we have full immersion just FYI
