AMD's NEW Zen 3 and Ryzen 5000 CPUs with Intel-DESTROYING single-core performance!

I was so excited for Zen 3's launch and the Ryzen 5000 series desktop CPUs, primarily for the sweet promise of much improved single core performance to bolster Ryzen's already great multi-core performance. AMD definitely caught me off-guard by claiming more performance than I had even imagined possible! Its so fast it can beat an older dual-core i5 5200U at 100% with just a single core! Then there's Big Navi...which AMD kind off just added in at the end as a second thought, and the performance claims might just be why.

The Ipc gain is massive. The latency gains are also nice. I like that I don't have to buy a new board this time and I think that's one of the reasons they were able to put the prices up, however they % price increase on the 12 and 8 core aren't too bad, but I think they have made the 5600x too high.

I was considering getting both the 12 and the 6 core, but with the price increases I think I will just go with the 12 core and wait for the 5600 none x model as it will be much better value.

That $200 price point is bread and butter for gaming cpus and the 3600 does that really well at around $180-200. I think they could have increased the price by 15-20% to match the Ipc increase.

Also your point on them not showing the multithreaded score is interesting. I think they won't have improved at all. I think the smt scaling that we have seen before will be decreased, but the single core Ipc will be higher. So 1c1t is much faster than before but running 1c2t won't have improved much.

Also can't wait to see it big chungus navi will be the next beast mining gpu, hopefully it will be 100mh/s under 200w. The 3080 is only just on par with Radeon vii at 80-90mhs which was a bit of a shame.

RDNA 2 is slower than the 2080 TI AHAHAHAH omfg. thats what I took from the presentation. They can't make a good gpu to save their life. Nvidia will forever rule the GPU market
