Hi Doug. I have always enjoyed the smell. I just don't go overboard breathing it. The younger the lungs the better care that should be taken. I'll be 59 in a bit. and didn't have all the safety information we do today. I have worked in fumes from welding, cutting metals, rock dust from jack hammers saws, Cobalt, chromium carbide, lead,Etc. I had a family so did what I had to. Has always I Liked, Shared, Added to playlists. All my best.

thats exactly what i do too! ha ha, hold my breath, then turn my head for a breath of fresh air. doesn't really work after a few clouds

The smoke is nice. If you're worried about the lead, it boils at 1, 749'C and does not evaporate! Its too heavy. We solder around 400'C. It would be a poor choice if it kept floating away in smoke. The basic rosin core lead tin solder smoke is harmless and smells nice. Original flux is tree sap. which is organic. Its these new smoke free variants that maybe toxic.

I love the smell of hot flux in the morning.

I'm sold!
I'm sick of tired of cleaning my glasses & breathing in that crap. That looks like it's basically steam coming off! Thanks for the info!

My homemade flux is pure rosin + alcohol. 100% organic. And I don't know why people hate the fumes, I like the smell of it.

Yeah, I make a conscious effort to not breath the smoke, but I've been soldering professionally for over forty years now, so I'm not overly concerned. * *roll-eyes* *

Why do you use lead free solder, it's crap.

WOW. My techniques also when I did not have a fan.

I addressed this issue to you about 3 years ago which its good that you made a video about it. But I see a debate going on in the comment section since some have preferences. I personally disagree with your method to use a fan to blow it away from your face since it goes "indirectly" to you. Best i think to blow it outside the window that way the particles go out of the house to be safer. But even then I don't agree with with using toxic things since as we see in Asia it bottles up over time when everyone does it and has to go somewhere. Sometimes accidents happen and the metal will get hotter. But yes your product seems better than most. Just another thought.

Rosin still has better wetting if im seeing this well

LOL Organic Flux if you are buying that would you also like to buy some snake oil. What is making it that blue? cobalt?
Rosin is an Organic compound it comes from pine European food agency designates it as E915. Liquid Rosin flux is normally just rosin & alcohol(also organic). It is easy to make liquid rosin flux just dissolve 1 part rosin and 4 parts alcohol.

Looks practically the same to me, the thing that I really like though, is how easier it looks to clean afterwards.

Ya I often use a fan to suck it away if I am doing very much and think about it otherwise I blow it away as I solder

Less fumes does not mean it safer, I want a material safety sheet

Cool Stuff, little confused about why it sparked when you touched your Iron to the wire though.

just remember cyanide is organic and water soluble. This looks pretty safe but those two words aren't enough to suggest safety in chemicals.

I have something called "Kester flux pen # 952D6", it's also completely liquid and has no fumes, but I find it works strangely. It helps for tining, the same way as rosin, but right after that my solder is not shiny and does not flow anymore. It becomes like a paste and is not shiny, and when I remove the soldering iron, it leaves an impression at the last point where it was pressed. The solder just does not flow to fill in the dip.
