What Happens When you put a Nintendo GameCube game in the Wii U

So Wii can play GameCube games, Wii U can play Wii games, but the cycle stops afterwards because only Switch games can be played on the Switch.

You got lucky there. A friend of mine tried that back in 2012, or maybe 2013, just for the shits and giggles of it, and the disc became lodged inside or the system. I believe he finally ended up getting his GC game back out of it, but in turn, the system got jacked up and would no longer let games go into it anymore. The Warranty was no longer even available for it, so he had to use it for digital uses only after that. It became an awesome paper weight though! 😆😂🤣

The Wii U doesn't appear to be able to read Gamecube discs. Even if you put the Wii U into 'Wii' mode, it still cannot read Gamecube discs. However, if you mod your Wii U 's 'Wii' mode, you can install Nintendon't. Rip your Gamecube games to a USB memory stick or Hard Drive and plug it into the Wii U. Launch Wii mode, launch Nintendon't and you can play your Gamecube games PERFECTLY off of the memory stick or hard drive. NOTE - Even if you do this, you cannot put the GC disc into the Wii U. It has to be read off the memory stick/hard drive.

You can play Gamecube games on the Wii U if you mod it and use Nintendont. It still won't read the discs, though.

Technically the Wii U could play Gamecube games because it still has the hardware and emulation built in like the Wii to do so. The problem is the Wii U recognizes and reads the disc but is unable to play it because of technical limitations. When you freeboot your Wii U with Nintendon't, you can run Gamecube games natively on it, you just have to put the GC games on a USB/SD card. This is really infuriating and it takes way too much effort to do that. It's like a child not wanting to eat potatoes until they are mashed.

The wii can play game cube games and wii games and has virtual console, the wii can play wii and wii u games and virtual console but no game cube and switch can only play switch games and only has a few games in virtual console. The backwards compatibility got worse

So if Wii supports Gamecube, does the Wii U too? Because on the Wii U you could play Wii games and go to the Wii menu. But the games don't work for some reason.
