Good model. I think one thing that isn't addressed is drug habituation as the precipitate to use and abuse of other drugs. Hypothetically, one could become dependent on a substance, and with repeated exposure their tolerance builds, so they no longer feel the positive effects, without a reduction in the negative effects. They could then take a different drug which they're not habituated to, and thus, experience the full positive effects of the novel drug. This could precede cessation of the former substance, for the latter; jumping from wagon to wagon so to speak.

over and over again what I see in people and programs that claim to understand "the" problem is the overwhelming idea that it all boils down to a person's thinking ...that if you straighten out your thinking you can change and become the person you deserve to be. And while I do imagine that is so true for some? Maybe the large majority I absolutely do NOT believe it covers everyone that gravitates to substance use. Cause I believe some people are not even really looking for an escape from problems nor looking to even be high ...rather they just want physical relief from REAL physical dis-ease ...in other words SOME physical problem BEYOND medicine's ability to isolate or identify is causing to them to feel markedly less "well" than the average person that any substance holds real appeal with them ...and I believe that THIS is systematically ignored/disavowed/ridiculed and generally given ZERO play beyond "running some blood work and tests" and making notes on a chart "complaints of non specific symptoms" ....over and over and over again all you get is offers to try yet another antidepresessent drug or encouragement to get into a 12 step....EVEN THOUGH your experience does not even begin to line up with typical substance abuse patients just become "another one" lumped ALL into the same group of people that either have messed up thinking or maybe some kind of chemical imbalance CAUSING messed up thinking....but zero serious consideration it is simply a serious physical ailment that modern medicine has not yet identified. I just feel so dismissed...so ignored and marginalized as a patient ....just another pain in the ASS to a doctor...a difficult patient that refuses to accept at least one of the many great diagnosis OPTIONS we have worked so hard to OFFER ....it's like "PLEASE just accept ONE of these MANY options that have nothing to to do with one another! Just EMBRACE one of them and STOP claiming we are doing nothing for the reality is THAT finally ...pick one or PLEASE just GO AWAY

Raise your hand if you feel like you have NEVER felt as well as your peers even BEFORE you ever tried any substance? Cause THAT is ME....Many of my freinds so obviously felt physically GOOD most of the time and were eating to go go go....but me? I never could keep up rarely felt up and good ...I felt like CRAP and had to always work hard at doing a thing even though it was miserable to....just because it felt so wrong and bad to go lay down instead and be comfortable...So naturally when drugs came along it was like "WOW THIS compensates quite a lot for feeling like crap!...finally I actually WANT to do this stuff!" ....I swear it is NOT my mind it is my BODY...SOMETHING is WRONG and has been since a young child! SOMETHING has held me SO down! Now through a lot of personal effort I HAVE compensated and pursued entire careers and raised a family, made good investments ALL of the things most people might use to guage if a person was ok or not....but I KNOW I could have been SO SO SO much MORE had I been truly healthy ....whatever it is does not show up in blood panels or imaging...whatever it is is something ignored by medicine ...they have no idea and won't even put a name on it past assigning any one of several syndromes and conditions....which they ARE happy to switch around from one to another if THAT would make me about fibromyalgia? Just TELLus it hurts when we do this? okay? and then YOU HAVE IT! ...no? Okay then how about this? or this? or even THIS? I swear its like "just PICK ONE! We NEED a common diagnosis so we can move on and prescribe DRUGS!"
One theory I have is that it is "monkey virus" I would have been infected with in early 60s time frame via vaccine they polluted entire huge batches with infected monkey blood....both my older sister and I and a LOT of people have some of the same life long symptoms....Ibelieve it is totally hushed up they don't want any testing or research...they don't want the liability. For all I know of there COULD even be some antiviral that might totally CURE it but who could ever even find out or try anything??
