A plane is predestined to get to Miami, but you still have to get on the plane.

I'm glad I heard this. I ask my pastor about this and he was so uncomfortable talking about it.

Just because God knows who may choose life, doesn't preclude us from having that sovereign choice given unto us freely to accept or reject that gift of grace.

We're taking back our vocabulary from the Calvinists. I've said this for a while now. Thank you bro

AMEN. We are predestined to be conformed to the likeness of Christ, once we are in Christ by faith alone.

This is EXACTLY what I've been preaching for years! We don't have to be afraid of Biblical words just because Calvinists misuse them.

“Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, ”

Amen, Flowers. The word predestination is not a "calvinistic word", it is a biblical word. From the time of conversion we have been predestined to be glorified. Ephesians 1 says so. We are not predestined to become saved in Christ, but those in Christ are predestined to be glorified.
I hope our calvinist friends, as I have some here in Finland, would see that. Jesus died for all of people's sins, yiu become righteous by heart's faith in Christ Jesus, the Gospel, then if you become a believer then you are predestined to glory. So glory to God!!

I remember when I was a staunch Calvinist I had real trouble to explain away this.

Leighton has made predestination and free will go hand and hand perfectly, just like the Bible says. I don't know why people separate the two.

In love (not in wrath), He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the KIND (not wrath) intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His GRACE, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.

This is an argument about predestination that I can get behind, as it follows the Law of the Harvest - you reap what you sow.

If you sow and nurture good seeds in your heart, those seeds will produce good fruit -Thoughts, actions, mindset and behaviour - which are naturally evident to those who see them

HE LEAVES OUT EPHSIANS 1:5 "he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, " ...one of my biggest pet peeves is leaving out the full text.

You forgot the part in Rom 8 where those who are predestined are the same who are called by God.
