My ridiculous theory: while it is not possible for megafauna like Godzilla to exist on Earth, this rule might be possible on another planet, who knows there is planet out there that even the smallest thing stand at 50 meters tall, this universe can be considered endless

And while it is never hinted what Godzilla is in MV, looking at his physical traits, it is possible that he is archosaur species loosely related to crocodile, alligator and gharial, he is not a dinosaur but just happen to look like them due to convergent evolution

We have Gojirasaurus, which is a real dinosaur, if it evolved to have more crocodilian like features and gotten bigger we could get something close to Godzilla.

Maybe there could be the head of a T-Rex, the arms of an Allosaurus, the body and dorsal plates of a Stegosaurus and maybe the tail of a T-Rex but the whole creature is gonna be standing upright, I guess.
