A very refreshing, and promising debut. I'm 62 and an original TOS Trekkie. I didn't think it was possible after watching that Picard or Discovery debacle. This is Trek the way we like it. I hope they can keep the stories on par with the best of the classic Trek lore.

Just watched it, and really enjoyed it.
Little call backs to the original series but a new fresh Star Trek series.
I remember watching TOS 40 years ago. This series started really well.

Totally enjoyed it, classic trek with a glossy coat of paint. Liked that they acknowledge the events of discovery and anticipate it will pop up again no doubt, if somethings that classified it would be hardly a surprise if it’s not exactly cannon and doesn’t need to be. As an intro it’s a blast. Well done and hopefully that quality can be maintained.

This is the Star Trek show I' ve been waiting for! The 1st episode alone pulled me in. Great story, and great casting. This the 1st of the new Paramount + series that I want to watch the episode again and again.

They took the premise from the zephram cochrane book, colonel green wanted to force cochrane to create a warp bomb for him.

The show runners really trick me when the episode mention Kirk, my first thought was James T. Kirk, I'm glad it wasn't.

Just want to mention...missing the big deflector on the bottom of the primary hull or not, USS Archer is given the registry NCC-627...which is just one up from the last Cygnus-class ship listed in the venerable Franz Josef Tech Manual, which was USS Tomahawk at NCC-626. (Yeah, I'm that kind of geek...)

I am blown away by the first episode. It is not only everything that Star Trek "is supposed to be" it is everything that we often mistakenly believe the original show was. By that I mean we give TOS a great deal of credit and attribute to it certain aspects that just aren't really true. This show, however, is all of that and some. Finally. Star Trek is back!

Writing seems truer to what I think of as trek. Looking forward to more

Nice. I'm wearing a "Star Trek" shirt as well in honor of the "Strange" launch *and* the "Picard" season two finale. I must confess: I find the former more fun to watch than the latter. I'm ready for more "Strange" fun every week.

I feel like everyone is talking around this instead of naming it. What people don’t like about Discovery and Picard is that it takes them all season to tell one story. That means that things move very slowly, and sometimes things happen that don’t really further the plot, you know, like in real life. On the other hand, when someone says “this feels like classic trek, ” what they mean, whether they can admit it or not, is that the producers were able to introduce, develop, and resolve a whole story within a single episode, which is fine if that’s what you prefer, but it’s not good or bad. It’s just different. Do you know what other genres feature tightly wrapped up problem-of-the-week stories? Procedurals, children’s television, sitcoms, and no one would say that those are examples of elite, high-quality storytelling. So I think it says something more about the audience (that we demand to be spoonfed a story that resolves itself by the end of the episode) than it does about the producers of any particular TV show. That said, this first episode of Strange New Worlds was really good, perhaps specifically because they were forced to fit it all into one hour. I would say that it feels like Discovery with faster, episodic pacing, and in that way, it’s not really a return to classic trek, it’s something different, and that too is ok.

It's refreshing to see a show that feels like a classic trek show again, the episodic storytelling seems to be doing it well so far

Nobody's mentioned the emergency medical transporter! The modern-trek haters are going to have a field day with that one!

Strange New Worlds delivered in spades!!!! It achieved its mission of a series first episode, I give it 9 of 10 for bringing back that TOS feeling. The opening with the clip from The Day the Earth Stood Still was brilliant as that film was the inspiration for Rodenberry's Federation and the whole Star Trek dramatic framework of the various scenarios of First Contact.

As long as kurtzman and Goldman have anything to do with Star Trek it will never return.
