I love how, at the end, they were able to strike a balance between satisfying the child's intellect and need to just be a child.

the most realistic part is how the school punishes people that retaliate bully but let the bully go.

I think Frank is the best guardian for Mary.

I had a friend in 3rd grade who skipped 4 grades and reached 7th grade at age 10. The year before she finished highschool, she offed herself due to pressure from her mom, college entrance exam, etc.

It's great to praise and affirm ones talent and ability, but pressuring them may just hurt them more than they realize.

"He wanted me before he knew I was intelligent" This line was so touching

I like how they go from solving difficult multiplications to an integral that requires knowledge of calculus and multi variable analysis.

This girl's roles in movies is either a genius or a genius psychopath

Props to Frank for fighting for someone while his own life isn't going great instead of wallowing in his own depression.

This is one of the few movies that should be watch in full. It's just beautifully written and tons of heartfelt moments that made you wonder what does one really need in life to succeed.

*7 year old is not able to immediately solve an incorrect equation that even adult math geniuses cannot*
“I guess she’s not that capable after all” 😐😐😐

franks praises have been sung about the kid but can we appreciate how FAST this mans drove to rescue not only the cat, Fred, but also the OTHER TWO CATS. this man is a legend in so many ways.

You missed the part where frank discovers his mom has been “giving” the foster parents tutors and other educationalists because they were struggling to keep Mary “under control”.

“Mary attends university”

Can you imagine being a student there and just seeing a 7 year old do math equations better than you

So if she finishes university, graduates, and gets her degree, does that mean she can just laze around until shes 18?

I know that’s kind of the point, but solving the Navier-Stokes equation is an INSANE accomplishment

11:38 I gotta say, that’s messed-up even for Evelyn, and I’ve seen worst ways children can hurt their own parents.
A daughter solved one of world’s greatest mysteries but don’t want her own mother live to see her greatest achievement.
I think I know why.

Best dad ever. Also, I think the daughter was absolutely brilliant acting. It wasn't cringey like most kid actors are and was a very good portrayal of real and believable kid prodigy.

The dad is a savage in the beginning. He sure did give her a special breakfast.
