Flushing is one of many ways to check the patency. Aspirating for blood return is very important when checking for patency, which was not mentioned in the video. It should be included - Per INS and AVA guidelines, when assessing patency, other than flushing, checking localized symptoms for infiltration, and listening to the patient's response to flushing, you also need to aspirate for blood return.

I had a Venofer infusion last week. My first 2 sessions went well. The 3rd one, no. Within 15 minutes, I started to get blisters popping up right before my eyes. The nurse had to stop the infusion. I was terrified.
