Between 2010 and 2020 Colorado saw an increase of about 70,000 new residents every year. In 2021 however, Colorado only saw an increase of 26,000 residents. In 2022, that number was 27,000 and Colorado actually saw more people move out then move in. The last time Colorado saw such low growth was over 30 years ago – all the way back in 1990! But why is this? After all, Colorado has always been ranked as a pretty great place to live and it’s also been considered one of the most beautiful states in the country.

Well, today on Across the Globe we’re going to be looking at why so many people are looking to leave Colorado.

They've done the same thing to Colorado that they did to California.

I love Colorado but it got too much like the east coast l fled from so l will only live in the less populated areas. The Front Range and ski towns are intolerable. The traffic, crowds and congestion along with the cost of living has gotten terrible in the past 5 years.

When i was there in the early 80s, an apartment ina small down was still a handshake and effiency was 75-100, a 1 bedroom was 125-175. Remember that was 40 years ago.

For being 1000miles to nearest coast and very cold it’s not worth being that expensive

I have been a resident since 1978, and I have also thought about leaving this corrupt state.

Our state has definitely gone down hill since the 1990s.

The cost of housing in Colorado is outrageous! When I bought my house in 2015, it was $185, 000, and in the last eight years, my house has been valued at $660, 000 by the county. My taxes have tripled in those eight years. Yes, the cold weather does last for eight months out of the year, but in the last ten years, it hasn't snowed very much. When we do get snow, it is usually less than five inches. I have noticed that the crime rate has increased a lot in Colorado. There are a lot of auto thefts in Colorado. I think Colorado is in the top ten for auto thefts. From what I can see, there are a lot of jobs in Colorado. I have never had any problems finding a job in Colorado. It used to be great living in Colorado, but it is now very expensive to live here, and there are also too many people here. Our schools suck and they graduate kids who don't understand basic math and can barely read.

I'd be interested to see how they are getting those numbers. You could get a one bedroom in Aurora for in 2010. That same Apartment would go for almost $1400 by 2016.

Colorado maybe getting expensive! But at least they don’t get even half as much rain as STUPID OREGON where in which I’m living right now. And aside that! At least they aren’t selfish, careless, clueless & dishonest like Oregon & aren’t outlawing stuff that is important to have & making into law to do stuff that is wrong like they do either! So there fore! Colorado is where I should be living. I love Colorado. I got to visit there a few times. And when I saw that it only rain for a while & stop afterwords! I was blown away! And I knew they should be where I should live. And when my time there was up & I had to go back home to HELL HOLE OREGON! My heart turned from melting with joy to breaking with sorrow. Especially since I was going to go back to a place I shouldn’t be living where I’ve lived all my life. With more nasty weather & less good weather. So you’d be crazy not to want to live in Colorado! Despite how expensive it is! I know I’d live there! I don’t mind the cold! As long as there is no rain to go with it. Rain I DO MIND! I mind it a lot.

The negatives: Too expensive, the bipolar weather, and the altitude is no joke! The positives: the scenery is very beautiful when driving i70 in Western Colorado and you naturally better like the outdoors!

50 years now. It is tough. Our "blue governments" haven't helped.

Well, I can understand why. Political reasons and too many Potheads driving around thinking they are safe to drive because they got high last night and Weed is legal there…. 😂
I did enjoy the way you can walk out of your suburban house there in the Golden -Denver area, and look into the distance and see snowy peaked mountains in the background. The way it has over 300 days of sunshine per year. It’s probably easily my favorite state in the Midwest if I had to live there for some reason. What I didn’t like was traffic there and the way it can get very dangerous driving up mountains when it’s heavily snowing. And that’s coming from someone that has lived in a Minnesnowda for over 20 years… I much prefer Florida though so we moved there and it’s heavenly. 🙏🏻🌴 tomorrow it’s Sunny again and a high of 71 degrees with no humidity until next May. Paradise all winter long.

It would be funny if Daniel Larson was listed as a reason why people were moving out.

IN MANY MANY PLACES PEOPLE ARE DRIVENAWAY BECQUSE OF THE COST OF HOUSING .
EVEN MORE THO, I THINK, PEOPLE WANT A LIFE WHERE THEY PLAY MORE OF AN IMPORTANT ROLE, SUPPORTING THEIR CHILDREN.S SCHOOL ACTIVITY & RUNNING FOR LOCAL OFFICE, BEING A BETTER COMMUNITY CITIZEN, THINGS LIKE THAT .
THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE CAN.T AFFORD TO EVEN HAVE CHILDREN, OR PLAY ANY ROLE IN A COMMUNITY BECAUSE SO MANY BIG MONIES & BIG CORPORATIONS HAVE TAKEN SO IMMENSELY MUCH FROM THE ECONOMY . PWW

It seems prices are going to stay high until people make back the potential money they lost out on during the COVID-19 pandemic. That's not going to happen. Therefore, prepare for a long, hard ride.
