Cleaning my DEF injector 2020 Ram 3500

Great video. The DEF message pop up beginning of December, got it the injector off and cleaned it like you did ( wasn’t near as clog as yours ) cleaned everything real nice, cleared the code and all was fine for a week, then the message did pop-up again, I decided that I wouldn’t toy with that again, so I got the DEF deleted, all of the muffler component is still there, Let me tell you, it is not the same truck anymore, way more power and it respond faster. I love it even more now. Thank you.

Good Video man. Appreciate it. Mines a 2021 3500 with only 34k on it…It’s being fixed by dealer for this issue. Getting it back tomorrow, but will be my problem in the future and thanks to this simple well laid out video, I will tackle the issue again in a couple years. Thanks again!

I removed and cleaned my DEF injector at 51k miles. I was surprised how plugged up it was. One hour of preventive maintenance can save you being in the Limp Mode on the hi way somewhere. Nice video. 👍

Great video. I had the same message pop up when the truck only had about 20k miles. I was using the regular def. When I switched to the platinum I never got the message again. I’m at 85k miles and still no issues (knock on wood).

Well i jusy bought a new 2023 3500 and did a whole walk through with Tech he said the best way to keep that from happen dont wait for light to come on to add DEF its good add at half and try to buy the fresh as much as possible and some other person on here said there is a Additive you can use

Yep I use that Blue Def. I have a buddy that use def at the pump and he is having problems.

You are lucky for it to be that simple! I hoped for that but clean as a whistle! The DEF pump was bad at 12, 870 miles!

Thanks for the video. I should probably do this 1 day during my reset out on the road. 1 thing I was wondering watching the video though. Can you remove the studs for the 10mm nuts that hold the injector on? It almost looks like that piece is removable.

I broke the hose clip, i cant find a replacement. Does anyone know where i can get it without buying the hose. By the way, you push the tab on the clip in and pull up on the hose.

Great video, just a heads up all DEF is the same. It is 67.5% water and 32.5% urea. The platinum is only 32.57% more urea and does the exact same job is the “cheap” DEF. The best hung you can do is make user the date code on the DEF new and use that.

If you have ever bought Walmart house paint you will learn a good lesson about going cheap. I bought the Platinum from day one. I only have 16k miles so TBD on this. Great video. Keep them coming.

I just bought the same def from Walmart and it did it to me too only days after I put it in. O'Reilly's brand is good use it a lot no problems.

I HATE THIS DEF CRAP !!! I HAVE A 2014 WITH 275K MILES !
I put a new Transmission in it
I havent had any engine problems
I havent had any fuel system problems
No oil problems
No coolant problems
BUT DEF still having same problems . I feel like they did this just to cost you more money. Im thinking about trading it in for a 2012 manual Just to stay away from DEF PROBLEMS . From what i learn owning nothing but DODGE TRUCKS . STEERING BOX IS TRASH
DEF SUCKS AND THE ENTIRE SUSPENSION COULD BE WAY BETTER FOR WHAT YOU PAY !! FORD fixed the issues they had . So why in the hell hasnt RAM done the same .
I had a 97 5.9 I put 500k miles on it and never had any problems .

To clean the DPF filter opening, use a acid brush with hot water and all DEF crystals will dissolve. End of problem.

Thanks for the video man. The DEF system in these trucks is terrible. I’m in Alaska and the DEF freezes at +12ºF and it is regularly -20º here at my house. When the DEF freezes in the tank it breaks the def pump in the tank and will need to be replaced. Now I am having this problem with the injector. Three times this winter the DEF system has broken on me. It is an awful design. The dealership told me I need to park it in a heated shop, so as long as I don’t ever want to drive and park outside anywhere in Alaska in the winter it should be fine I guess?
