How To Use A New Construction Window For A Replacement Window-Replacement Window Installation

In this video, I show you how to use an "in Stock" new construction window for a replacement window.

You should have kept the top nailing flange in place to act as a flashing and slip it behind the building paper. Now you are relying on caulking to try and seal the gap above the window frame. It would be interesting to see how you sealed the perimeter of the new window to the existing rough opening.

I used the score and snap method. Worked well for me. I made sure I had a new blade and had to score a few times on each side. Careful with the blade. It snapped off after a couple bends.

How did you seal the window afterwards? Tucked the flashing tape over the wall and window 50/50?

An easy way to remove the vinyl flange try it next time, just score and snap.

Many window companies will void the warranty if the side sashes are cut off.
No tools are needed to cut off the wing. Only a utility knife. Just one pass from both sides into a corner and it is easy to break it by bending it on its side.

New in this field. Would buying a new construction windows be much less than buy a replacement windows?
Also, I am going to replace the lousy Pella Casement windows (dried rotted/some fallen out) to double hung windows.
The man of the house passed so it's just me & two guppies. Where can I go to rent/free if possible scaffolding up to 2nd floor?
Buying scaffolding online will be too costly on the shipment.

I guess each house is different.. but the more examples the better ... give us a video on how you install a window that has no fins.. are you modifying the existing frame you left in there? where are you putting your screws and molding
