I remember doing this a handful of times in my backyard a long time ago with my cousin. It was in a wine glass and we would like collect this rain water that overflowed in a vase and then drop like a half cap of bleach in it. There were also these weird tiny white slug things that were in there. They looked like rice grains. Since we were in the buisness of only killing these mosquitos, we tried saving them, but they did not want to be saved. Oh well, what could we do? We noticed that after 5 minutes, they were still alive.
We dumped a full cap of bleach and watched for 10 minutes. We noticed differences in the larvae's personalities. They were all squirming and thrashing. So we put a few drops and waited another 10 minutes. We aventually had pizza and we came into the house to eat for 30 minutes before we came back outside to find that they were all dead, and that they changed colors. They were a tinge of white. We had theories that the bleach did not burn them before they died. It was just suffocating them.

just put a bit of acitone in the water. works like a charm but it evaporates after a day but itll kill all the current larvae.

This pisses me off. What can kill them? That much bleach should kill a human. Excellent video, straight to the point.

resistant as hell. but a drop of washing up liquid will do the trick. eliminating surface tension so they can't grab onlo the surface for air trapped under water and they all drown due to hydrophilic end of molecule adhering to the polar H2O molecules. The non polar hydrophobic end facing away - almost acting as a blocker to the air hole of the mosquito

I had to deal with mosquito infestation just the other day in my multi-tier fountain. Added Clorox and peroxide, then flushed everything with a garden hose. Kept the hose in there for a few hours. The mosquito larvae are very resilient to chlorine and peroxide. When they were building the Panama canal, the construction workers kept getting sick with malaria, and the netting never really helped. Some guy came up with an idea to spray oil on standing water to suffocate the mosquito larvae. It worked! I've heard that you can also use the dish soap. (But Chlorine also dislodges all the detritus (muck) on which the larvae feed)

All the dilution rates end up being less than 2%. Now throwing a shock tablet in there would do some damage.

i am trying to find a natural way. i might try apple cider vinegar but if bleach won't kill them!!!! i wonder what natural substance will!

1 teaspoon of vegetable oil per gallon is effective. It makes the larvae unable to get oxygen when they come up to the surface.

Ok, so I just did a mix up of vinegar, chlorine and toilet liquid wash - potent - nearly knocked me over - best to use a mask and to take safety precautions (no children, pets, etc). Just dumped the mix in - I'll tell you what happens in 12 hours.

I put minnows in a 5 gallon bucket of tap water that contained mosquito larvae. Hoping the minnows would eat the mosquito larvae, but the minnows died overnight. I guess I need an aerator in order to keep the minnows alive.

I used Pool Chlorine and they died quickly. But I also used Pool Shock powder so I can’t say for sure what killed them all.

to nll them, just add one drop of handwash soap and also if your hands are wet wuth soap [dishwasher soap foam], simply brush them, the mosquito will stick right a way and die ... the only thing is, it shydnt be to wjole garden, m it will just kill the plants also.
