May sound superficial, but I want more focus on differing marine biomes! Octo Expansion's deepsea denizens are the slickest cast of characters we've gotten yet, and I'd LOVE if we got Stages set in their homelands. Trenches, hydrothermal vents, brine pools!
Or their land-based equivalents to 'em, at least. Mariana Trench would probably be a steep hiking trail, for example.

One way they could make Splatfests more interesting in Splatoon 4 is by having some of the modifiers from challenges be active during the whole fest. (Ex. Splatfest where everyone has increased jump height or a Splatfest where your weapon for each match is random.)

We don’t need Splatoon 4 now (my opinion) like Splatoon 3 is only 2 YEARS OLD that’s still very young and if they release Splatoon 4 suddenly out of nowhere it would feel rushed like Jesus Christ let Splatoon 3 be a little older and then release Splatoon 4

Thing i want most for 4 that they can still add into 3 REDUCE THE CHUNK COSTS AND GRIND let us have a real freedom of fashion in splatoon especially since its a major aspect of it and having the chunk costs be so high makes no sense and only impedes creativity and experimentation

This is a change I want for Splatoon 4: *A Completely New Setting.*

All three Splatoon games take place in a relatively small region, a post-humanity Japan. There's an entire planet we still haven't seen. Since we're done with the whole Octarian Menace/Squidbeak storyline, let's have an entirely new setting! Take us to another continent on the far side of the world! Give us completely different stages, new weapon kinds, new cultures, undiscovered lore, and so on.

In a new setting, we can get that more fleshed-out single player campaign. We can have different ranked modes and rotations. Perhaps this new culture celebrates Splatfests differently than our friends in Inkopolis and Splatsville. As for Salmonids, I'd love to see a culture where Inklings and Octolings live alongside Salmonids in peace. What would such a culture look like? What would their game modes and weapons be? Maybe we could get a new online co-op mode to replace Salmon Run where Salmonids are playable alongside Inklings and Octolings. There's so many possibilities!

Also, if you miss the classic stages and characters, bring them back in DLC campaigns and expansions!

One thing id really like is the ability to spectate random matches going on at that moment. Sometimes I dont feel like battling, but I still want to get in on the fun, and being able to spectate your friends' matches or even random peoples matches would add a lot more to the social aspect of Splatoon

You know what I want? SOUND options. I tell ya, one of the things I hated most about Splatoon 2 was the fact that it seemed like every single match was backed by *shudder* Bottom Feeders. There was no way to pick which music tracks I didn't want to hear like in Smash Bros, nor a way to turn off the music if I want to play while listening to podcasts or something.

The same issue is in Splatoon 3 and only by the grace of Squidchrist himself every music track is a banger so at least I'm not suffering. But still. My COFFEE MAKER has more sound options than this first-party Nintendo game.

Here are some suggestions I'm seeing that I really DON'T want:
- Major changes to the base gameplay: Splatoon is fun as, please don't fully rework the multiplayer mode.
- Removing/replacing current ranked modes: The current ranked modes might be a little stale, but I think more interesting maps and small reworks would be better than just replacing them.
- "Skill-based matchmaking": Obviously the matchmaking could be better, in Splatoon 3 its partly based on your letter rank which is kind of stupid. But I'm seeing people throw around the ideas of trying to measure players' skill in-game like how the medal system works. That would not work, player skill is basically impossible to quantify, you can't just "match with better players".
- Full removal of rotations: The rotation system is flawed, it sucks when there are just no good maps on. But at the same time, my first few games of a rotation usually aren't as good while I adjust to the new maps. With rotations completely gone, I don't think I would play as well as I would be constantly adjusting to the new maps.
- Fully custom kits: Firstly, it would be fine in PBs. But it would probably hurt weapon variety at a higher level, while simultaneously making it way more confusing for new players. I like Chara's suggestion of semi customizable ones where you can choose between a few subs and a few specials.
- Ok this one is harder to explain, but I don't want the Grand Fest to determine what actual time period the game takes place in. It can still affect the game, but one of my favorite parts about the Splatoon universe is that it follows along with real time and I don't want to see them throw that away.

The only one we absolutely need is better online. And not just for Splatoon, every major Nintendo online game. Mario Kart, Smash, Mario Maker, Animal Crossing, etc.

Personal changes I'd like:

-Keep catalogs but get rid of the grind. Even if it means its only like 50 levels now. I like the incentive to play, but I hate going up to 100 just to get all the stuff I actually want.

-yeah...let us play ranked during Splatfests OR make Splatfest Turf Wars have "challenges" applied to them. Imagine how fun each match would be where everyone has super jump height or it's all fogged up or something!

-get rid of the gear system on clothing...and give us something like the Side Order Pallettes. Imagine being able to really customize yourself with way more space for abilities. Obviously tone it down from Side Order so it's not broken, but gives us more freedom with abilities.

-Make Tableturf matter. I dropped that side mode THE MOMENT I got the emote...and that feels like a shame. They should do more with it. Its a good mode

The vast majority of the playerbase plays without VC and while theyre probably right not to add it natively, it's absolutely criminal that the only two communication options are This Way/come on and booyah/Nice.

At the very least, there should be 2 more communication options, maybe also dependent on mode they could add specific comm options.

As someone who enjoys some of the more slice-of-life aspects of games, id love to see something like that in splat4. Apartments, jobs that arent salmon run(tho i love the gamemode), maybe even an in-universe social media to connect with players in game. Ik theyre more quality of life things and wont exactly help the competitive side of splatoon, but i think it would be cool if the game had that as an option

I'm just wondering how many numbered splatoon games we will get before they use subtitles instead

Like Splatoon: Goop Troop

it's a very vague take, but i want splatoon's sense of identity to be given a fresh coat of paint. Splat1 and Splat2 had very strong senses of identity, but Splat3 has just been a bit too all over the place, with the most unique areas and modes being hidden behind the paywall for Side Order (which also had its own issues in terms of identity when you compare the concept art to the final product)

1. Dedicated Server
2. When the match ends because of an early DC, reward those who did something rather than have everyone get nothing.
3. Be less punishing for factors outside of our control (DC's)
4. Make the game more playable not by ridiculous level of grinding, but more rewarding.
5. Reintroduce de-ranking.
6. Ranked matches (even if there is no impact to your rank) in Splatfest.
7. Endless Salmon Run mode
8. NO MORE RANK DECAY

On the quality of life/player customization side of Splatoon 4, here’s my wishlist:

-Hybrid motion/stick controls where you can have full range of camera motion with the sticks and still have the full motion controls as well, I hate having to either sacrifice motion controls or only look up and down using motion controls

-Custom color lock so that, on your screen, you can be your favorite color at all times if you want. Optional feature, of course.

-Extra (purely cosmetic) slots for accessories like glasses and earrings, as well as a set of sort of costume slots for if you like the way a set of gear looks, but not the stats on it. Kinda like Terraria’s costume slots where you can equip the regular gear in it to have it display over what you’re wearing, but have it be purely cosmetic

-I don’t wanna have to sit through a cutscene every time I feel like changing between being an inkling and octoling. It’s just tedious.

I personally saw the scrapped Salmon Run modes being implemented in side order. The fish enemies are exactly like the fish salmons similar to how the sting ray boss in SR is just reskinned in Side order. Remembering some scrapped images of large golden eggs and what not, i can imagine those as the large spawning orbs in SO etc.

I would like to see un-ranked modes other than Turf War. Turf War is like the only mode that you can play open without worry of a ranking system. Clam Blitz, Splat Zones, and Rain Maker should be available for a more casual audience.

Some things I want:
1. Different looking ink tanks (like, the normal one and jr.'s baby bottle one from 2) with different looks and the ability to put stickers etc.

2. More hairstyles and small things like the tentacles' color (custom for plaza etc) and the "tip color" (you know what i mean? Like, in 1 it was like colorful and in 3 it's kinda "dried out" etc.)

3. The ordering system would be a bit better and more worth it. Like, if someone has a different main ability than normal, you could order it and get it anyway
Or just make chunks cheaper and easier to farm (like, splatfest tee's ability doubler change?)

4. Better communication with in game friends like small miiverse posts/mk8 messages? (In the lobby/pool etc.)
