Imagine being so badass that it makes Xenos so impressed that they formally assist against chaos for no other reason but “you have some Cajones guardsmen, I respect that”.

Combining the Stickman Format with 40K actually works really well when the art is good

I love that the later parts of the war just turn into "... and Gandalf the gray and Gandalf the white and the Monty Python and the Holy Grail's Black Knight..."

No matter how often i here this story, i still love the fact that basically everyone was involved in that battle

A few key points are missing:
A: Abaddon promised the planet to the dark gods and only destroyed it as a last failsafe because
B: the powered up pylon array did not only push back chaosforces they powered it up to a level, that it started closing the eye of terror

Imagine being so shit at Crusades that you have to throw a planet sized ship at the planet you're invading to win.

"You call hurling an irreplaceable relic of pre-DAOT, super-weaponary, into a planet, a tactic?" Abbadon: "Hey, if it works"

In the words of Blackadder:
"Abaddon the Despoiler is about to launch another black crusade to move his drinking cabinet six inches closer to Terra.

In my humble opinion, it kinda sad that we did not see the full impact of the Fall of Cadia, until there were this great cutscene from a video game.

I like the bit of lore stating that if the dacades long conflict between the ork empires of Dregruk and Gathrog had been resolved, or if the two ork warlords joined forces against Abaddons 13th black crusade at Cadia (much like Ghazghkull and Nazdreg), then they could have severely disrupted Abaddons plans for galactic conquest, which would have saved the entire galaxy from annihilation. Yet the two warlords were never interested in fighting Abaddon, seeing as they were having a perfectly good scrap between each other.

Always found that quite amusing

I think my favorite part about the planet being broken is that you could still see lasgun fire from the regiments still fighting in active combat because of the void shield surrounding cities. Like the guard didn’t even give up fighting even though they were on a “doomed” planet.

It's so easy to mock Abby for his crusades not just because he never got as far as he wanted with any of them really (save for that one where they despoiled the tomb of some saint, preventing total imperial victory in the future), but also because he only took Cadia down because he literally *crashed an entire damn Blackstone fortress into it.* Even in his one 'successful' attack, he only won because the thing just so happened to actually destroy the entire planet. It weren't his forces that took the W on Cadia, it was a desperate act that did.

So basically my take on the fall of cadia is that, the Imperials were actually Winning and beating the crusade back, until Abbadon basically threw that blackstone fortress at the planet, breaking it apart because he couldn't invade/beat the imperials the old fashioned way?.

I find it cool that as the planet was breaking apart, alot of cadian units and regiments before they evacuated were still giving chaos hell, and also heard that after cadia fell, that some guard regiments looked to the nearest world that had chaos on it and took their revenge, naming it Cadia 2.0 or New Cadia, hen guard regiments were still fighting chaos forces as the planet was breaking apart, so badass!.

I saw in a few clips from Space Marine 2 that Creeds old/famous regiment the "8th" cadian regiment is present in the game how badass is that!. (Also i have the 8th cadian regimental flag hung up on my bedroom wall too :> )
