There’s a difference between show muscles and practical strength, some guys who are ripped would struggle to do 5 push ups and couldn’t do a pull up that can’t be optimal health

Dude pushups are amazing. Best most accessible workout and if you add high intensity techniques like paused reps, negative reps, and regressions, you'll get insane development.

I did 500 push 3x a week during lockdown. It gave me the best looking chest compared to any workout I've done

I just hit a pr of 63 - chest touching the floor and 90% extension. Tips to improve: on volume days, do 50% your 1 rm (20 max reps so do 10 reps) for 5 sets in the morning, then afternoon, evening, and night. That’s 200 in one day. Make small improvements to the point where your previous 20 1 rm is now your 50% rm. On intensity days, train 1-4 sets for as many reps as you can possibly do with solid form for each set leaving 2-4 reps in the tank. On the last set you can go full reps maybe don’t do it every single session. I don’t do more than 3 intensity sets anymore.. not as much volume required with higher reps. Just focus on slowly increasing reps over time. When you get better try to speed rep the first 60 or so percent of your reps and switch to slower and controlled (especially breathing) when you get to higher reps, and 1-2 sec pause at the top.
