Just put police on texting patrol pulling over, issuing a $5, 000 fine and suspending licenses for any driver they see holding their phone.

The real question: Why is this being proposed now? People are getting really tired of their rights being violated.

What happens if you left your phone at home for whatever reason? Would you get your license suspended out of the assumption you're withholding it? Would they search your whole car? This can go wrong in so many ways

I'm about tired of people trying to give away their freedoms, and consequently trying to do the police's job for them. I mean we keep giving him shit like this I mean what the hell are we paying them for? They're supposed to investigate. As I see it, it brings into question whether or not your Fifth Amendment right is being violated.

Well I text, search, and answer calls for my bf while he's driving. What if the passenger is using that person's phone?

Just hand them your old cell phone. Problem solved.

How does the device know if an autonomous app didn't place a text on your behalf? Like IFTTT.com and what about passwords.. would you be compelled to provide that? That is protected by free speech or rather the right to remain silent.

This is another excuse by the officials to seek revenue, just like the speed cameras in the city, where they reduce the speed limit to 25. At the end we the people end up paying for the government mistakes and abusive expending.

just root the device and disable the usb port completely (does not even negotiate a higher power profile) until you enter a secret tap or knock code. can be done.

I'll just say I don't have a cellphone or that I forgot it in my previous location.
