I think they will just copy and paste Conan exile system. It works, and gives freedom to adapt builds to the way you want it.

It's the game I'm most looking forward to. The graphics aren't exactly high-end, but the gameplay looks pretty deep and it has the lore behind it as it's biggest seller.

I think there is going to be a Tree for each class. You start with one and you can unlock the others within the world. Then you can mix and match between what you have unlocked in all the trees to make your build. Maybe with your Primary active tree have access to more powerful abilities for that class to make you feel like a swordmaster build vs a trooper build. But still the freedom to swap your primary tree.

As for the lone wolf stuff... I think you should be able to be a part of a guild, of a group of players - log in, and just solo-play for 15 or 30 minutes, and do something - all alone on your own - that does benefit the guild/group.

I don't think that solo-play should be exclusive to lone wolf, guild-less characters - but that even the most guild-centric, group-oriented player should have the theoretical possibility of doing something solo on the side.

Are you planning to read just Frank Herbert's 6 novels? or are you planning on all books written on the Dune universe? I ask because there's a lot of reading after Frank Herbert novels.

I can't quite follow your argument around the classes... maybe I'm just dense...

So, you say you see two possible approaches - one being that your initial choice at character creation gives you your base class - and later in the game you can mix and match, by learning abilities from the other classes. But your initially chosen base class, gives you some stuff that's exclusive to that class - and you can only ever get the exclusive stuff of one class - namely the one you picked at the start.

The other approach - which you deem more likely, and more fitting for a sandbox type game - being that there are no classes, but that what you pick at character creation just gives you your starter abilities - and afterwards every player can learn everything, mixing and matching all the possibilities, no exclusives that you are locked out of. You also say, that this approach would allow for more diversity and more possible builds and combinations for players to create.

So far, I can follow. I not only understand what you mean, I fully agree with it. I see both approaches being possible, I agree that the second approach would be more sandbox-style and allow for more possible builds and build creativity. I don't know if the second option is the more likely one to be chosen by the devs... I'd have to read up more on what the devs are planning to tell... but yeah, maybe.

But then you say, you prefer the first option because of uniqueness. And that's where you lost me. Because, if the second option allows for more build diversity, more different builds and more build creativity... then obviously that's what's gonna result in more unique characters. Like, everyone can be unique. With the first option, you see a mentat and you know - them being a mentat - they are guaranteed to have that set of exclusive abilities, because every mentat has those. So, every player falls into one of 4 base categories - i.e. classes. So... less unique then. With the second approach, you see player - and they have no class. They are no "mentat" or "swordmaster" - but they could have any skill, any wild combination of class abilities - allowing for far more unique character builds, than a mentat being a mentat...

So... I have to guess now... but is it possible, that - when you say you want "uniqueness", you don't mean actual uniqueness - but rather what you mean is you want to distinctive classes to exist? Like you want a mentat to be different to a swordmaster - as in, less uniqueness, more defining features. So that that choice at the very start actually locks you into something, that then defines you for the rest of the game?


Because, you do seem to agree that the first approach leads to less unique builds than the second approach... so, what you actually want, is "distinctiveness" for the classes?

Likely the beginner class will be your Origin Story followed by subclasses for gameplay.

thanks keep nothing wrong for building hype for a mmo. Last good mmo was elder scrolls online. I hardly play new world just to war log i don't consider it a good mmo unless they fix it. But this looks promising. Hope you can clan up in the big pvp zone.

Hopefully they stay far away from the min max meta bs. Very very balanced so everyone won’t pic the same skills, especially those who are competitive in pvp, because that’ll be the first to exploit. For example.. deep desert, shields attract the worm. Shields protect from gun fire. No shields means snipers and otherwise ranged classes are better in the deep desert, based on what we know about the game thus far, and lore.

40 players per server. This is not going to be an MMO. It's going to be near identical to conan exiles, with the addition of some more modern systems and vehicles. You heard it here first.

I'd rather be able to learn everything, because I think being unique ultimately comes down to how people play a game and use their abilities. I tend to like a power fantasy and find it extremely difficult to find a game without limits that is fun. I'm all for specializing in the beginning, but by endgame I like being able to do whatever I want.
