Pangenesis always sounds so silly but it's easy to forget we've known things since we were children that Darwin could have never known. Great video!

Lack of Knowledge doesn't mean he got it wrong. He knew traits were inherited, but not how. We now know about genetics and DNA. Based on the information he had he made a hypothesis, which has been proven false by further evidence. This is why it was a hypothesis and not a theory.

I mean... living organisms CAN, to an extent, acquire traits during the lifetime that the parents did not have, and pass them on to their offspring on the genetic level. Sometimes the environmental stimuli can do stuff like that, and especially affect the expression of genes, which in turn can affect what's being passed on. Also there's horizontal transfer of genes between species, via viruses and stuff. And there's also genetic mutations resulting from the code being altered by radiation and stuff... but yeah obviously it won't have the effects that those wrong theories were describing

Good thing Watson hijacked roselyn Franklin's crystallography images, showing the structure of the double helix, and perhaps he did see mendels work and stayed with his own pet theory.like even einstein with quantum mechanics being meshed with relatively, great thinkers simply will not have all the answers, mistakes in science are important
