During an entire brigade formation, getting ready for a "fun run" our new Commander after giving his 30-minute speech said ZONK!

What followed was an entire brigade running away, the look of confusion and panic among all the new privates while their first sergeants staff sergeants sergeant majors, officers, specialists went in every single direction to get out of the parade field.

It was a single greatest day of my military career and it's one thing I will probably never forget my entire life. I was so freaking hungover if I had to run I would have thrown up even at a battalion run pace.

I've never heard "zonk" in any PT formation. We did PT.

The first time I heard that word I was at my first duty station in SK standing in the heavy fog wondering where TF everyone went. Top looked at me and said "Run fool"

I remember hearing this and running for my life. I got into someone else's car because mine was farther down the parking lot. Getting out of sight was more important.

As an army, when a morning doesn't have pt and getting work at 9:30 am it's feels like heaven even only rest for 2 hours

We had just got a batch of new privates in the unit and 1st Sargent walked up to a specialist and said "please explain to these privates the meaning of a 'zonk'".

This dude literally turned the second he herd 1st Sargent say "zonk" and sprinted as fast as he could, got in his car and hauled ass out of the parking lot.

1st Sargent looked at the rest of us like "oh so only he listened, I guess the rest of you want to do PT then" I had never laughed so hard while being pissed in my whole life.

I remember my first Zonk. Got it over text and didn't know what it meant so I was at PT and was like "where tf is everyone?"

In the marine corps, aint no 1st Sgt dictating your PT he just simply says, "PLTN SGTS, TAKE CHARGE AND CARRY OUT THE PLAN OF THE DAY, FALLOUT!"..then the sweat starts to roll
