I run low profile baitcast reels with shallow spools and use braid due to the smaller diameter to test weight so I can maintain a higher amount of line on my reels with adequate strength. With that being said I usually tie on a 6-12’ fluorocarbon leader to combat the line float and visibility issues.

Daiwa’s J Braid grand-8 is one of the best braids for the money, nice and quite coming threw your rod guides and good casting, 15pd on feness setup and 30- 50 pd on the rest of your setup.

Great video!! Thanks for explaining the difference between high & low carrier. Would like to see the follow up video. I mainly use the high for spinning rods and low for flippin & pitchin!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!! 🤠👍

Daiwa’s J Braid is awesome. Solid product and competitive price point. I’d put it up against Power Pro.

I remember WAY WAY BACK IN THE DAY when Roland Martin brought out the first braid, it was made from KEVLAR.
Nothing like the dyneema and Spectra or gel spun polyethylene.
Many many years ago.
I’m trying to make it to next spring time and my big 71 🦉💯👈🏻🎣. In a physical rut right now. Trying to catch up for time lost. Wishful thinking on my part.

Great video and explanation! I’ve found you can’t beat suffix 832 imo best all around braid, I don’t like the “slippery” braided lines, just don’t trust my knots with those… could be totally in my head though lol

To answer your question you asked in this video, yes, I want your input on when to use leaders vs straight braid or fluorocarbon. I use braid to fluorocarbon leader on just about everything. Thanks. 👍🇺🇸

Thank you for the video. Can you do a video on mono vs fluorocarbon for invisibility in the water especially in clear lakes with over 4 feet of visibility?

Tyler ...Yes, do a full video with leader length etc.
I have experimented with sinking braid, so far I used Sunline Almight in pink because the camo was not available when I first bought it. The hard lesson I learned with Almight was that their 10 pound was actually 4 to 5 pound test and broke very easily and I lost 4 fish and immediately and removed it from my reels. When going back to read up on it again, someone else had the same experience and said to go to the 18 pound or 22 pound almight which would be approximately 9 to 12 pound test. That said I am looking at 15 pound Lunkerhunt flourescent sinking braid now, available at TackleWarehouse and the Lunkerhunt Leader material. The question, ... Any thoughts on sinking braid ? Lunkerhunt products ?? or other sinking braids Xbraid ???

It’s always gonna be varying results on braid bs braid and braid vs clear. I have wrecked them on clear Lake Martin here in Bama on 15lb straight black braid and a solid black worm. I’ve also wrecked them on the same setup when Lake Martin was muddy. It all comes down to what fish want at that particular time and moment. Little aggravating suckers….

Braid is my favorite, I’ve probably lost out on bass not biting but at the end of the day it’s saved me from losing a lot of fishing lures i use 50 pound test so I can pull it out of whatever I get caught in compared to mono or flouro I bank fish mostly, but I still catch a lot of bass despite using braid.
But I just bought two poles with mono and flouro so far I still don’t like it 😂 but just wanted to try something new, maybe it’ll grow on me but so far I’m like “ehh”

All my rods have braid on them. I prefer high carrier for castability. I use Goat Rope made by Bruiser Baits. It is a 12 carrier braid and it never lets me down. I also use 6 to 10 feet of fluorocarbon leader on everything except my flipping rods. I live in Florida so most of our waters are stained with low visibility.

I have noticed I need mono or flouro in the winter, even in our stained florida waters. The braid works fine the rest of the year, but once it gets cold I have to switch it up.

I just started using braided line but always tie a leader line to it for topwater i use monofilament is that a good thing all of casting rod are fast and thank you for your help

On spinning reels I have more wind knots with a high carrier braid due to it's limpness. With a lower carrier, like Power Pro, that issue isn't nearly as evident.

I’m a weirdo… I use 13 lbs Almight sinking braid to a 30ft leader, 7 lbs FC Leader.. get the best of all worlds.. Alberto knot in the spool isn’t an issue
