i don't think that lack of self love is the root of depression. i believe self love is moreso a medication. circumstances can feel unfair and be really discouraging. we share this world and there is much influence on all of our lives by external forces, which we cannot control. everyone is different and some people cannot handle life as easily. and that is okay.

(brazilian, bad english) i swear to god you have no idea how this specific video was so useful to me, especially the part about self hatred (it’s horrible to me to admit this), extremely high self demand and trying to control my brain to the most, to not think about past and what i didn’t do in 2021-22, trying to forget about things about this 2 years i will no more have chance to live (now in 2024), being already 19 and no ideia about what to do w my life, but at the other point being extremely demanding with myself, perfectionist, can’t having 5 minutes without overthinking anything i am doing (even w like food, eating clean, iam extremely afraid of gain weight), having extremely brain fog at same hours… you look like a “please do not give up, you still can do hard things buddy”, i watch your videos since july/august last year. you are EXTREMELY helpful and direct on your explanations, i love your videos. they are very good to control self sabotage and overcome fear irreducible thoughts (cause i also have pure ocd). love your confidence girl, continue doing your best and being competent as you are💙

Devi, I have been in a boom bust cycle of feeling depressed for a long while and what you said resonates with me very very much. During those times of feeling low, those emotions are just there and I could not get out of them. You are very right that reminding ourselves that this is just my depressed brain and don't let those emotions define who we are. Those affirmations are very helpful to remind us and calm ourselves when those spiralling negative thoughts come. As for how to pass those days of feeling depressed, right now I just acknowledge the existence of those emotions, as I realised the harder I tried not feeling sad, then the sadness lingers longer. I realised when I allow my sadness come out, I get better sooner. Emotions are sometimes our friends. They act like a nudge to tell us something we might have been suppressing and avoiding for a while in our lives. Again thank for you much for bringing this video as I know many people are suffering from depression right now. You are such a compassionate and beautiful soul and I wish this video could reach the audience who need it. Much love to you.

Havent seen your videos in a while. This was really insightful. I think you are spot on about “self hate”. When we really examine it like you said, depression has been placed squarely out of our control within the public consciousness and yet those who don’t struggle with it say that it is in your control. But common with all depressed states I find that people are incapable of being kind to themselves as a habit. And even when we get depressed there seems to be a sense of shaming ourselves for not feeling better. Thanks for this 🙏🏼

I have PMDD and hate admitting it to myself as I don’t want it in my identity. I’m always so high vibrational until the PMDD hits and it’s like a complete switch. This video helped me so thankyou<3

I also try to stop watching too many mental health videos. Of course they are helpful but I think if I watch them to often I feel like as if I am always sad or anxious and have to heal myself.
I try to minimize it on a few days a week and not everyday
