Lol hate to say it, but I am... I told you so! The reason for the window(s) removal is that when the straighten the 1/4 panel sub structure you’ll have 2 things happen. 1 the glass roof and rear window will break 2 if it doesn’t break it will break the seal and your interior will be a hot tub.
I was a glass mechanic in my younger years and I can tell she wasn’t full of crap about the back window ordeal. When the auto industry went to flush mount and encapsulated glass it got really hard to get windows out without breaking them and especially the back window.

Moral of the Story: If you crash your new Tesla Model 3, then make sure it's totaled.

They broke the glass, why are you guys paying for it?

Your "repairs experience" with the Tesla Model 3 does not surprise me at all for a brand new car manufacturer. Back in the day, I owned a 1972 Saab Sonett III, of which only about 200 were imported into the US during that model year. In 1976 the ignition wiring harness shorted out and erupted into flames. We put out the fire, but not before the entire dash panel and associated electronics were destroyed. Insurance covered it, but it took 4 months to get the parts from Sweden, plus an additional 2 months while those same parts spent sitting idle on a loading dock in New York. Yeah, I know that's an old school experience, but the world really hasn't really changed all that much when it comes to owning a "budget exotic" car. There just isn't the same support network for these types of vehicles as there is for long established manufacturers who have been selling large numbers of cars in the US for years. Seems as though Tesla is simply the 21st Century version of the same old song.

I don't understand why do you need to pay for the glass roof that the workshop damaged? It is their fault so they should pay.

Ii think this the perfect way to show how a real Tesla owner experience is. With no inside contact so that you get the real deal and no help to make them look good.

Great Tesla ownership repair report, I have told several of my friends to not even consider a Tesla for a new car, this just enforces what I have said. Thank you guys !

Shouldn't the body shops insurance pay for the broken glass?

@12:37 - The question is not "Why are they taking glass out..." The question is "Why are they charging $1, 252.97 + labor & tax to repair something they broke?"
That's a huge portion of that final bill that shouldn't be part of the equation. You should challenge them on this.

I know it sucks, and I'm sorry ....but this ordeal and your in depth review of this situation, actually really good

If they broke the glass taking it out they should be responsible for it!!!

I bought a Ford Expedition a couple of months after they were initially introduced. I got T-boned a month later and the truck was in the body shop for 8 months with repair costs well over $24, 000. A much more serious accident to be sure, but I was told the long wait for parts was because body panels for accident repairs are panels rejected from assembly lines due to minor defects. Newer car models have not yet accumulated enough rejected parts to supply the repair industry and car companies are understandably more interested in making new cars with their parts than building inventory for car repairs.

That looked like a 1500 repair for a normal car. I see now why insurance rates are so high for Teslas

They better pay for that glass because they are the ones who broke it...

I personally find it a bit of a low blow to question your integrity in the light of how open you guys tend to be about these things, particularly car-ownership. You guys have done the unedited buddy reviews, more or less to prove the fact that you're not twisting your stuff.

I've read the comments spewing about Ford lining your pockets, Chevrolet bribing you to say this and not that, etc. Bravo and props to you guys for not caving to the irresponsible accusations of the people who don't care to watch the whole videos, and who make base assumptions about your loyalty and respect to the viewer.

Again, bravo guys. Keep on keeping on, and as long as you guys continue to pump out some quality content, I will continue to be your subscriber. Love your content! Love the fun! Love the transparency! Keep it up, guys!

Actually, it turned out to be fortuitous that you had the accident as it afforded you the opportunity to report on real world experience with repairs.

this story mirrors my experience, I have been out of my TM3 since 6/6/19, the convoluted process for estimating the damage, then ordering parts, then taking the car apart, then ordering more parts is really a PAI. the initial estimate was about $6900, the final bill for the repairs will be over $20k. then there is loss of use/value that will need to be factored in.

This is completely insane, you could buy a couple nice small used cars for the cost of this one low speed collision repair.
