In todays video I discuss whether CGI is getting worse.

In recent years I've noticed a dip in quality in CGI, resulting in many digital creations that feel very unreal. In this video, I explore why that may be. Please comment below if you know more about CGI and can answer the questions posed in this video

Despite its cripplingly low budget of only 30 million dollars, District 9 was the first film of its kind - Having mind blowing visual effects - which ranged from full CG characters to dynamic weapon effects.

However, with District 9 coming out in 2009 - it meant that the film always existed in the shadow of another major CGI film release that Year: 2009’s Avatar, by James Camereon.

With Avatar being a Goliath success; District 9’s incredible CG and VFX achievements were largely passed over and the film was never given the praise it deserved for changing the way Hollywood approaches its VFX production.

So, with the release of Avatar 2, I thought it was time that we cast a light back on District 9 and explored exactly why this film looks so good, how it did it on such a limited budget, and how it influenced the next decade of VFX.

Worlds collide in “The Flash” when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?

“The Flash” ensemble also includes rising star Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon (“Bullet Train,” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”), Ron Livingston (“Loudermilk,” “The Conjuring”), Maribel Verdú (“Elite,” “Y tu mamá también”), Kiersey Clemons (“Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” “Sweetheart”), Antje Traue (“King of Ravens,” “Man of Steel”) and Michael Keaton (“Spider-Man: Homecoming,” “Batman”).

“The Flash” is produced by Barbara Muschietti (the “IT” films, “Mama”) and Michael Disco (“Rampage,” “San Andreas”). The screenplay is by Christina Hodson (“Birds of Prey,” “Bumblebee”), with a screen story by John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein (“Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves,” “Spider-Man: Homecoming”) and Joby Harold (“Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” “Army of the Dead”), based on characters from DC. The executive producers are Toby Emmerich, Walter Hamada, Galen Vaisman and Marianne Jenkins.

Joining director Muschietti behind the camera are director of photography Henry Braham (“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” “The Suicide Squad”), production designer Paul Denham Austerberry (“IT Chapter Two,” “The Shape of Water”), editors Jason Ballantine (the “IT” films, “The Great Gatsby”) and Paul Machliss (“The Gentlemen,” “Baby Driver”), and costume designer Alexandra Byrne (“Doctor Strange,” “Guardians of the Galaxy”);

the score is by Benjamin Wallfisch (“The Invisible Man,” the “IT” films).

Warner Bros. Pictures presents a Double Dream/a Disco Factory production of an Andy Muschietti film, “The Flash.” It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures and is set to open in theaters in North America on June 16, 2023 and internationally beginning 14 June 2023.

I ranked every suit from The Flash CW Show Season 1 to Season 9 in 20 seconds. This video is inspired by Clownpuncher139's Every Arkham Suit Ranked in 60 Seconds short so all credit goes there.

It's not just the cgi that's bad... also the storywriting, or these brief moments, like she hulk twerking.

Because companies are focused on quantity and not quality.

The single most complex cgi model is from the 2009 transformers movie . This model is mafe up of 52, 632 individual moving parts, 11716127 polygons and 6467 different textures. This one model takes up 32 gigabytes of disc space. For comparison, Iron man's most recent cgi iteration didn't even have 1/10 of that . Didn't even have 1/100th of that number .

I hate the blurring motion shots. Or blurring backgrounds so all you can see is the actor talking more than the cgi being bad.

Think about this when I remember that one King Kong movie with the dinosaurs and massive bugs. That came out in 2005😂

Teams need more time to make the movie. The MCU and Disney just pump out movies every couple of months so their teams are completely overworked, burnt out and have no time

Quantity over quality, They choose to pick the easy cash instead of creativity.

Kinda crazy to think we went from a relatively small team of animators creating the first fully-CGI movie and it looking pretty damn good (at least for the time) to a big ass team with a million dollar budget not even being able to make the Flash run.

I'm just surprised it lasted this long, this is a recurring phenomenon. Star Wars, great visuals, other movies came along, improved on these new capabilities, then everyone got into it and it became slop.

Then the 90's happened, Terminator 2, Jurassic Park, Independence Day, all amazing visuals again, then garbage for a few years.

We've been in a pretty long streak now, Matrix back in 99, LotR, Harry Potter, the whole superhero franchise, literally 2 decades, aaaand back to garbage.

I think Ultra HD is kinda to blame, when everything looks so vivid and clear, the effects are very easily distinguishable even with some of the best CGI movie moments
