Okay now for real yall you probably missed it but angel isn't defending Valentino cause he doesn't want to receive punishment, He's actually protecting Charlie, Charlie is to kind hearted and Angel knows this, he knows she isn't gonna kill him and is likely trying to stop her from trying to get herself hurt. Angel even states when in the dressing room that he'll promise to get rid of her as long as Valentino doesn't touch/hurt her, Angel is more worried about Charlie's safety then his own which is honestly really sweet

Valentino doesn't seem to realize that he's a middle manager at best while Charlie is on the board of directors.

I know a lot of people say Charlie would vaporize Val just by looking at him and that's the truth but that doesn't mean Val isn't capable of hurting her. This is because it is more than likely that Val possesses angelic weapons (and I think Angel knows this and that's why he was so worried that Val could harm Charlie) and I would like to remind you that thanks to them Striker managed to neutralize the powers of Stolas and to reduce him to death.
Proving that even a low-ranking demon with the use of the right angelic weapons can kill a royal demon.

The fact that Angel Dust begged Valentino not to hurt Charlie and this here tells me that Angel has no clue how strong Charlie actually is. Barring angelic weapons, Val can’t do anything to her, not really. And he’d have to make damn sure he doesn’t miss.

I kinda wonder if Angel had a similar dynamic with his little sister in the living world.

Angel Dust thinks he is saving Charlie, he even asked Valentino to please not hurt her, and Valentino is smiling here; which we know from episode 2 Valentino isn't smart, honestly of the V's Vox seems to be the only one realizing Charlie is powerful, calling her the daughter of the devil and making it a priority to keep Alastor from making a deal with her. Charlie is so wholesome and nice that other demons underestimate her and assume she's weak. Angel Dust begged Valentino to not hurt her and thinks he is saving her here, Valentino is smuggly smiling this whole scene as Charlie confront him...but we are waiting for that moment, probably season finale, where she pulls out the pitchfork and shows them what the daughter of the fallen ones can do.
