Hi Chaps! To answer some of your questions...

1) I left it at 10 MP as this is the phones default setting, has the best stabilization and you can zoom in (you can't when in 40 MP mode), it also uses 'light fusion' aka supersampling to combine 4 MP into 1 in the default 10 MP mode. But it's good to have the option of 40MP if you prefer the look of those photos.

2) both phones are left in Auto mode (most people use it this way), but the P20's fancy AI will auto adapt camera settings to the scene, e.g the Eiffel Tower pic is shot in auto mode, but it automatically switched to Night mode (for long exposure) and that's the pic you see in this vid @4:12

3) all P20 selfies were shot at default 24 MP (not 12, i wrote that incorrectly) Cheers! 😊

P20 PRO - Still photos, day and night.
S9+ - Video recording and selfie camera.

I like how he kept saying throughout his whole video that the P20 is better. Then in the end, he picks the S9 as the winner... lol

P20's rear camera is great but the video is deal breaker.

I chose S9+ because of the camera witch shots 4k 60fps and has a better stabilization ;)

Wow! The difference is huge.

P20 PRO: much better at night, great natural colours & sharper vision.
S9+: fantastic stabilization in video & good selfie camera.

Why P20 PRO so shaky and with bad selfie mode and awful shaky mess videos?
Why S9+ makes colours so rubbish - too light and grey?

SUMMARIZING:
P20 PRO: +colours +night +-sharp vision -selfie -video on the move
S9+: +selfie +stabilization in video -night -colours (too light, grey, unnatural)

Hard to choose, especially taking into account much better baterry in P20 PRO.

P20 Pro shows how the real photo should looks like for the details.

You need to test it in the extreme low light scenario. P20's AI assisted long exposure is where it outperforms every smartphone available.

P20 Pro wins for photo, s9+ wins for video

honestly the s9+ for me is slight doing better overall. Like you said for instance in that last shot it shows how sharp it is being made, I don't like that.... But the s9 can be to soft!

and that 4k video on the p20 is really horrible... That XIaomi Mi A1 is just as stable for a way lesser price.
not sure why they removed the OIS in the first place tho...

Either way great video!

p.s 960fps yeah s9 for me the clear winner, not great on both (duh) but s9 much clearer en less exposure problems.

In overall, I'll still choose s9. Good review, thank you

The only thing Galaxy cameras were never good at is capturing skys and clouds. Other than that. S9 overall is better imo compared to the p20. It's the 4k stabilization on the s9 that really takes the cake

S9 overall winner. Video and selfie definitely s9 plus is superior. Front camera, the p20 is just marginally better. I even like the s9's front camera night shots better.

What a shame that there is no stabilization 4k30 in Huawei

Shoutout from South Africa to the song you used at the end of the video a very important song to our country

It's crazy how far smartphone cameras have come!!

There are stark differences between the image quality between the two phones, like how can someone tell which image looks more real. They both produce great pics, but the pics of the Eiffel tower at night shows us how the same pic looks different on both smartphone, so how can someone tell which phone produces the more true to the life picture without having seen it in real life. I hope this makes sense lol.

Very nice and detailed comparison. I have been testing the 960fps slowmotion on the P20 pro and it is somewhat jerky on fast moving objects. Like badly implemented optical flow effect on final cut or premiere.

bro u need to use the night mode on the p20 pro... the handheld 4 second long exposure is one of the selling points afterall....
