At the end when Alastor says "I bid you Adieu" is actually pretty clever because in life he lived in Louisiana, a state with a French speaking population. In French most people don't say "Adieu" the connotations of using this word suggests you'll never see the person again as if they're going to die. A pretty dark choice of word and it fits him so very well
