Tbh when alastor goes ham on the serious parts I feel like he's explaining how horrible his life was and how strong he became in the end which answers our question on why hes smiling it's because he wants to smile until everything is normal and that he has a normal life and thats why he's so mean it's probably cause he was taught or was abused or he's just pure evil.
